Holiday Excitement

We had a pretty good Christmas even with stress, illness, and a tree that wouldn't light this year. Our tree that my youngest daughter and oldest granddaughter put up and decorated needed help that was not available this year from the angel who has seen better days that we let go of when they took down the tree to the lights that no longer worked which caused us to toss the tree altogether. We plan on buying a new tree, ornaments, and angel for 2022.

From all of the stress of the girls, my stomach started acting up and nothing was moving, causing me a lot of pain. Once the stress was removed my body started working and I was on the mend. We had Christmas Eve with my Son's family and boy do I love seeing the boys enjoy their presents. It brings me so much joy to be able to see them and spend time with them.

Christmas was spent with all of the girls which was great and stressful all at the same time. My oldest daughter is just struggling and the fight is up in your face real, too much for me in my current condition to even get my mind around. I have placed her in God's hands as I need to heal so I can be there for everyone.

Like I said before my husband only half guessed his pistachios but never guessed his larger presents which he loves by the way. The girls made out like bandits as usual. I got a three their fruit bowl that didn't make our last move, some really nice warm mittens, gloves, and hats, a whole case of chocolate Candy that used to be sold here in America but no longer is that my husband had delivered from England, I got a new Quill pen, wax, and a monogrammed wax stamper and all different kinds of colored wax to seal my letters with, a massager, nail files, and a piece of art with all of our children's names on it. I think there might have been something else but not sure.

On the 28th I had my appointment with my Primary Care Physician and it was mainly a catch-up visit and setting up my next visit. It went well. I am down 36 lbs from my pre-op weight. I have a phobia of eating so we are keeping a close eye on that to make sure it doesn't get out of hand but this last week I have finished my plate twice which has made my husband happy.

Our home has come to getting excited if I make a bowel movement and if  I eat. It's like a party up in here at any given time. Whoot Whoot. There are plenty of sad times but we like to focus on the good times as much as possible.

I had someone cause some undue stress the night before my operation but it has been worked out. I don't think I will ever understand why people do things to hurt others.

On the 30th I had my surgery to get more port placed. It went well. I was awake the whole time talking with the Dr. and Nurses, although I did sleep well when I finally got home. On the way home, since we know my chemotherapy treatments will cause neuropathy I had a Dairy Queen Banana Split and I enjoyed each and every bite savoring it for all, it's worth as it may be a long time before I can enjoy ice cream again. As for my port, it is still tender and still has a few days to heal.

Later on the 30th we would find out that two of the people who were helping my daughter move her stuff into storage came back positive for Covid-19. We still rang in the New Year but I have to call my Dr.'s first thing Monday to see how they want to proceed with my care this week. I am thinking they might hold back my chemotherapy a week to see what my daughter's test says. Sadly there are no rapid tests open so we have to wait for the longer test to come back which seems to take forever. So far I still have the dry cough I have since my surgery in November and nothing else so we are taking that as a good sign.

We are still taking one day at a time and enjoying the time we have together. Holidays can be stressful but please always try to find the happy moments. I know that is what gets me through. Here is to a New Start to a New Year for everyone!

Emotional Overload

Today we had an education day about my Chemotherapy. It went well, we toured the chemotherapy room, and got acquainted with the nurses. I also met with billing and everything is a go from my insurance, at least for now. I also got the date for the operation to get my port put in which is December 30th.

Before we even left this morning I had a surprise. My daughter Nesie picked up my daughter Samantha and Lilly so they would be here for Christmas. Hugging Samantha is what I needed to get my day started and then I saw her face. Her teeth are in really bad shape. She 27 and there is nothing left to them. How does that even happen? I know her life choices and the fact that she battles with anorexia and bulimia is a big part of it but it was still a shock. I told her she needs to find a surgeon and get all of her teeth pulled and get dentures. To see my baby in pain because of her teeth is heart-wrenching.

Then we had Nesie she is a mess. She had a breakup and my granddaughter and she both have to be out of the house by December 31st with nowhere to go, and with me being sick. Nesie has had a lot on her plate. Nesie has a lot of decisions to make in a short time and it is putting a toll on her boy and mind. I can suggest things and listen to her but I can't make her decisions for her. Lets just say she isn't having it easy right now.

Being a mother seeing your children in pain or turmoil is hard to see when you aren't able to fix it for them. Like I said on my Facebook. " I liked it better when they were all really little and we had all the answers for them. A kiss, a hug, or time just with them is all they needed to make things better." It's hard, please remember people who look fine may be going through rough times or have to make a tough decision, be kind.

We had lots of tears on the way up and on the way back from the Clinic. Big note make sure you have tissues on hand in the car for these very moments. We did finish the night off by ordering Chinese for Dinner. Everyone ate together talking and I think the night ended well for everyone before the girls were off till Christmas Day.

Where I am right now

So I know it has been some time since I have written, but life just flies right by in the blink of an eye. These days even more so. Our family is looking forward to the Holidays. This year my husband and I bought presents for each other which doesn't happen very often. We have been married 31 years and maybe only a handful of times have we bought gifts for each other. It has always been about the kids and family. This year has thrown us a curveball and we took a stand just buying for our children, grandchildren, pets, and for each other.

I did however not let my husband buy anything for me until I made it through my operation. I made it and he started ordering right away. There is one present, the big one he said but the last time he updated me it was still on the other side of the planet. Time will tell if it makes it here on time. His however have all made it and are wrapped and ready. He is super excited to guess what his presents are and he is dead on good doing it. This year I don't think he will guess. He guessed his large presents were toolboxes. Sorry honey but you're dead wrong. I know he will guess some of the smaller gifts by feel but the larger ones no way not in a million years.

I will update everyone more about my health but wanted to try and write a little something each day so that there is a kind of diary for others who may be going through what I am going through or if I pass for my family to look back on. I love them so. I have a great medical team, a supportive family, supportive friends, and many new friends to make along my journey. When I am feeling alone and at my lowest, I feel God's presence and he comforts me. He often sends my husband to me, puts a song into my head,  someone calls,  or messages me. Jesus is awesome and never leaves my side. Thank you to all those who pray for me, message me, or call me. You are all wonderful. Hugs.

Health Update

Between homeschooling, family day, Narnia Night, and having my granddaughter over for the weekend, we have been super busy. Also, we were hit with a lot of information and are still sorting things out. First of all, when they find cancer they like to come up with a plan within the first 30 days. Because of my other health issues, it will take a bit more time to sort out.

I have to get my Gynecologist to contact my Surgeon to see what his plan for the growth on my ovaries will be. When and if they cut me they want it to be once. My biopsies have been sent to a second pathologist for more testing. Also, I have to have more tests to make sure my cancer has not spread. They don't want to do anything with my diverticulitis right now unless it is an emergency and I was told I could eat anything as the seeds, nuts, etc are only a myth (so many Dr.'s and patients disagree with this).

We talked about weight loss surgery but we have kept food diaries in the past and I eat less than most people so my weight gain doesn't match my intake, so maybe more movement is needed which has gotten seriously less over the last 13 years due to pain from my fibromyalgia, back, and of course more weight gain from not moving as much. There just isn't an easy answer to all of this. To be quite honest it seems like we don't have all of the information we need yet. So until the Dr.'s talk, the results from the pathology come back, and I get more testing we are at a standstill.

I am sorry I don't have any better news, my health issues just make it extremely hard for the Dr.'s to come up with a plan to treat or medicate me. I hope to have more of an update in the coming weeks. I am scared, this isn't easy on me or my family. We are just praying and taking one day at a time, enjoying the time we have together, and finding joy in each day, until we can take the next step. Thank you to everyone who keeps asking how we are doing and for updates. Keep the prayers coming. Hugs.

Keeping Step

Fitness trackers seem to be everywhere and to be honest I have been against them because of the high prices I don't know how people afford all of these high priced items. I really don't. I won a nice fitness tracker a few months back falling in love  and really wanted to get some for my girls. I wanted an affordable but quality product.

Trendy Pro wanted my daughter to try their's out which is slotted for both children and adults alike. This fits my youngest daughter who is 11 as well as my grand daughter who is 7 and surprisingly even fits my husband large wrist on the very last slots. We usually have to buy special bands to fit his big wrists so this is amazing in itself.

So with the Trendy Pro Fitness Tracker set you will get one rechargeable fitness tracker one black band and the choice of  an extra band a wall charger but I just charge ours in our computer, a instruction manual, this tracker is super easy to set up, and a double sided reward chart to get you started on counting your steps.

What I love most about this tracker is the ease of setting up. I could do it all on my own without my husband's tech help.  The next best thing would be tracking the sleep. Don't judge please this was a weekend and we were up super late but I am able to see exactly when she goes to sleep and gets up in the morning.

Yes it is a bit like spying but I get to see my girls sleep quality and hers is pretty good. On the other hand I have to talk to my Dr. about mine I am yet to hit more then an hour of deep sleep in over months of monitoring my sleep. My sleep is mostly in the awake sleep. Oddly enough I dream every night so as soon as I hit REM I must dream like there is no tomorrow.

As for her steps well she hits well over 10,000 steps without blinking an eye so we don't have to worry about that, as for me I am have not been working and am now disabled and my steps are no where near 10,000 but I am working on getting more steps each and every day. Some days I don't reach my goal but by the end of the week I usually reach my weekly goals so it all evens out. I raise my goal each week so together as a family these fitness trackers are making a difference.

So my final decision on Fitness trackers in general is to shop around there are great  fitness bands out there like this one by Trendy Pro that make the grade for dependability, affordability, and ease of use. While Trendy Pro is not made for swimming there are some out there that are make sure you take that into account if you will be using your Fitness tracker while under water.

Check out all of the specks below. My favorite is the sedentary alert to keep you  active all day long.

Gift idea for the breastfeeding Mom

Having breastfed 5 children of my own, while encouraging others to try before giving up. I am pro breastfeeding. I do understand that some can not do it for obvious reasons such as taking medication, can't product milk, etc. I also understand those who could breastfeed before and not with their second or vice versa.

I would have loved this electric pump back in the day. I had a hand pump which was hard to use. This one is electric, can do two breasts at a time. Talk about time saving. It also has a massage function. Oh My Goodness. Where was this when I needed it.

There is a big difference from a child suckling and a machine pumping milk, but the massage function makes it more bearable. This is great for new moms, seasoned moms, and those who continue to keep their milk production up to donate their milk to babies in need.

Check out more information below.

A little more detail about pump.

Two-mode Technology After turning on, massage mode will keep 120s, then switch to suction mode. The massage mode acts as a warming-up phase to get breasts ready to initiate milk flow by continuously stimulating the breasts in a rapid pumping rhythm. After that, in suction phase, the pumping rhythm becomes slower to maximize the milk flow.9 Adjustable Suction Levels There are 9 suction levels to adjust, from level 1 to level 9, the suction is rising. Users can choose the most comfortable level and the level mostly fit her baby’s feeding pattern. Moreover, the intelligent breast pump has a memory function which automatically switches to the optimum suction level (current setting) after the massage.Isolated System A hygienic isolated system ensures the milk won’t go backward to tubing or motor and protect the main machine. It also prevents bacteria and mold from breeding and let the baby drink clean and hygienic milk.Measurable Milk Production Moms are not sure about whether the amount of their breast milk is enough for their babies when feeding them. Using Gland breast pumps, you can clearly see how much breast milk you produce with the scale on the bottle.

Check out my un-boxing below.

Hydration while running

My girls are pretty active in the spring, summer, and fall, between walking, running, playing, and biking. I am forever telling them to drink water, to re-hydrate themselves. Still they come in most of the time really thirsty. We have tons of water bottles but they either lose them or forget them. So I needed a way to make sure that their drinks were literally on their body.

Along came our first running belt with water bottles and the idea took off. Now they have a spot for their music, some money, and for their water. Now I can be sure that they will have hydration for as long as the bottles hold out.

What I like about this belt is that it has two pockets. The water bottles are kind of small but this is for my youngest daughter and should last her a good bike ride or while she is playing with friends. In the pocket we can fit a snack, and any other little things she would like to take with her. Since the water bottles are attached I don't have to worry about loss as much as before.

The downside to this pouch is that it is quite small even at it's largest size so that people who are bigger like me have no chance of actually wearing it for fitness. If I can find a company that makes them big enough for my size I would be really happy but for now knowing my girls will have what they need with them while they are at play or exercising is good enough for me.

The Fun Fitness hydration belt can be found on my link below.

Hayes-Alan Sensory Chew Brick

These sensory chew bricks from Hayes-Alan have several uses. Mainly made for those with ADHD, autism, and oral needs, but can also be used for teething babies. I love how the necklace is adjustable from a small neck to a large neck. It has three textures. One is like that of a building brick but thing soft. One has little tiny nubs, and the last is just a smooth surface. These are made of non-toxic silicone, are BPA free and have a little flex to them which makes it perfect for bending back and forth. Much more quite then clicking a pen in and out I can vouch for that one.

If you are interested or have a need for something like this in your or a loved ones life you can find them at my link below.

ASOONYUM Ankle Support

My daughter has been asking me to get a ankle support for her but everytime we got one she wasn't happy with it. When we got this one from Asoonyum my daughter said this is the one. She can easily get it on and off, it is machine washable, and reusable. I love that it is adjustable and gives my daughter relief. She loves that it can be worn with bare feet as well as with flip flops, and sneakers. She does suggest that when wearing shoes you might need to loosen your laces a bit for best comfort level.

As a mom I am just glad we found a ankle support that works for her. This ankle support can be used for sprains, post-op recovery, arthritis, and to help with foot fatigue.

The Asoonyum ankle support can be found at my affiliate link below.

Smart Weigh Bathroom Scale

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

As a family having a bathroom scale comes into use fairly often. When the kids have stomach bugs we check their weight to make sure they haven't lost too much weight, and check everyone's weight from time to time to make sure as in my husband's case and my own we are losing while the girls are doing well themselves.

What I like about this smart weigh scale is that it has a wider base for us larger folks so you don't feel like you are on a balancing beam. This scale also goes to 440 lbs which is more then generous for our family to use. The scale can keep track of up to 8 users and works on 4 AAA batteries which are included, just pull the plastic tab on back of unit to put the scale into use. It can weigh in both lbs and kilograms which is nice for those who are used to that.

This Smart Weigh scale can be found at my affiliate link below.

ComfiLife Orthopedic Knee Pillow

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

Being a side sleeper I have to put a pillow between my legs. I have been wanting a pillow like this one from ComfiLife for quite sometime. This pillow can be put between the upper or lower legs depending on your needs. This pillow is made from memory foam with a zippered cover that can be washed and hung to dry when needed.

Side sleepers everywhere like me who have back pain, or those are pregnant will be thankful for a pillow like this. As a person with arthritis of the lower lumbar a pillow like this can be the difference between a good day or a day filled with pain. I still have bad days but they are just from flair ups, weather changes, or my Fibromyalgia.

The ComfiLife Orthopedic Knee Pillow can be found at my affiliate link below.

TakeYour Medicine

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

Do you often forget to take a dose of your medication or do you know someone who needs reminding? Then this item might be right for you. First of all I want to suggest that if there are children who will be in the home at any time that this be kept out of their reach. The lock is really easy to use.

This Medicine reminder takes 2 AAA batteries which are not included. You set the alarm to go off up to 6 times but remember this is in Military time so you are able to set it correctly the first time. The directions are pretty straight forward although I think the 3 second is much more like 6 seconds if you ask me.

I always remember my morning or night medication but often if and when I have to take something else like and antibiotic then I need a reminder to take those other doses, and this item has been keeping me on time for taking my medication. I recently had a part of my wisdom tooth break off, causing an infection, and then was pulled out. I am in the healing stages, stitches come out late next week. This medication reminder came just in time to keep me on schedule with taking my medication on time.

The Ddidak Medicine reminder with alarm can be found at my affiliate link below.

Beautyer Blackhead Remover Kit

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

Boy my mom would have loved to have these back in the day when she would have to work on my fathers back after a long day on the farm. We deal with acne, boils, pimples, blisters, and the like here in our home and these little tools really save time and money.

I do suggest watching a few videos and as always check with your Dr. before doing anything medical to your body. When using these make sure you start with a clean surface and make sure to sanitize thoroughly after each use. I love that this comes in a nice padded case to keep your tools separated and safe between use.

The Beautyer Blackhead 5 piece remover kit can be found at my affiliate link below.

Sitting in style and comfort

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

Being a blogger means lots of writing, usually while seated. Sure there are pictures to take, places to visit, etc, but when it gets right down to it there is a lot of sitting evolved which works best for me since I have Fibromyalgia. I also have arthritis of the lower lumber so having support plus comfort is key.

Having a support memory foam pillow like this is great for when you are sitting a lot, either by traveling by car, or sitting in an office all day. This is also great if you have problems with your Coccyx.

The most important part is to make sure when you sit on this you place the pillow so the open end is against the back of where you are going to sit. I see tons of people that use this the other way around but the proper way is to have the opening towards the back not the front.

What I love about this memory foam cushion from Konnor is that it has a cover that can be taken off and washed, I hang to dry. It also has a non -skid pattern on the bottom so that if you have this on a metal or wood surface it won't slip around.

Working or in my case writing can be fun but not when it is a pain in the rear, this cushion can help with that.

The Konnor memory foam cushion can be found at my affiliate link below.

Lumbar Support

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

Personally I have Arthritis of the Lower Lumbar. I was diagnose in my early 20's with it. It is genetic in our family with my Grandfather, Uncle, Father, and now myself. I am sure other family members have it they are just the few I know have confirmed cases.

Support is very important as is walking, and exercises for the back. Without these the arthritis can get out of hand to the point of causing paralysis from the waist down. With having 6 children and 2 grandchildren it has been my job to make sure that this does not happen. My back health is very important to my quality of life.

This lumbar support from Konnor is great because it is sturdy, with a memory foam core. I love that this has straps so that it keeps your support pillow in place so you don't have to constantly readjust it. Great for office or home chairs, traveling, auto, and of course anywhere else you might need support during the day. It also has a zippered cover that can be washed which means that you can keep this looking great longer.

This Lumbar Support can be found at my affiliate link below.

Sterline Counter Top Water Flosser

This was an item that I was told by my dentist to get because my teeth are so close together. Regular floss gets stuck and we either have to pull it out when possible or even cut it out of my mouth. I have used dental sticks with little or no results. In steps a water flosser and my life is changed as was the cleanliness of my mouth. I am looking forward to a shorter cleaning time at my next dentist check up.

This is awesome as it holds 600 ml of water, comes with a 3 standard nozzles ,1 tongue scraper, 1 Orthodontic Tip  head, and one pocket head. This also comes with a 2 year warranty.

Sterline Sonic Pulse Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush

A manual toothbrush has been part of my life from the very beginning. Then when I became and adult I started hearing about rechargeable toothbrushes, then sonic toothbrushes. I asked my dentist and he suggested that I get one because of the iron supplements I have been on I have damage to my teeth from when they were forming under my baby teeth. Even with regular checkups a regular toothbrush just can't do for my teeth what a sonic toothbrush can.

I already have a Sterline sonic toothbrush but added this one to my collection because it has the UV clean technology my primary physician suggested. I have a weak immune system and have to keep my toothbrushes clean and away from everyone else in the family. It has helped a lot in catching illness from their toothbrushes but this added security just may make an even bigger change in my quality of life.

I suggest this for anyone who has immune problems or for anyone who just wants to make sure their toothbrush is clean. Before this I had to soak my toothbrush in bleach and then into boiling water to make sure it was clean. I also did everyone else in my families this way too but no more. This is so easy and it doesn't take any time out of my day to do it. I can brush, detach the head place it in the UV slot shut the door and go about my daily business knowing it will be clean for my next use.

Chair Dancing Fitness Latin, Soul, and Rock 'n Roll

* Some of the links in the article may be “affiliate links.” This means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I will receive compensation.

I have done yoga, walking, and swimming pretty much my whole life but with health issues I have found that standing is not always a safe position to be in while exercising. So I am more then excited to tell you about a line of videos that are tailored to exercising while you are in a seated position. Yes you can still do them standing as well and on good days I do them standing but alas most days I am sitting.

These are great for people who have Fibromyalgia like myself, are disabled, or even elderly. I do suggest speaking with your Dr. before you start any exercise just to be sure. You can never be too careful.

I have two different dvd's so far the Chair Dancing Fitness Latin, Soul, and Rock 'n Roll, and the

Chair Dancing Fitness Express Toning, I am looking forward to getting Simply Stretch and Chair Yoga as well in the near future.

If interested you can find these videos and more in the website link below or even on my affiliate link on Amazon.
