Southwest Pasta Skillet Marksville Style

I recently hit upon a great deal with the new Philly Cooking Crèmes and they have been sitting in our fridge untouched, unused, and aging. Earlier today between posts and cleaning Samantha and I cleaned out the refrigerator. We emptied the whole thing, something I usually do every week but it hasn't had a cleaning in a while. April was a busy month. Believe it or not it wasn't that bad but after we put everything back in it looks really organized, just like I want it. Well there were a few things getting ready to expire, so we placed them on the top shelf. The kids had jello chocolate pudding for snack, and we have mozzarella cheese that needs to be used up in the next few days. We decided to give the Philadelphia Santa Fe Blend Cooking Crème a whirl since it was about to expire. We took out some frozen chicken, Samantha chopped up what we needed for tonight and we have some soaking for tomorrow night. Of course the original recipe only served 4, we have 6 eating or 7 if you count Lilly who hasn't been born yet so in red you will see the changes I made to the recipe to accommodate our family without increasing the meat portion part of it or the cooking crème and it came out wonderful. We are adding this to our dinner line up. I hope you take the time to try this out for yourself.

The Philly cooking Creme in Santa Fe Blend is no longer available but I have been able to make this recipe by using 8 oz of plain Cream Cheese and a 1/2 cup of your favorite Salsa as a substitute for the cooking creme.

Southwest Pasta Skillet Pam Style

Ingredients

1 lb.
boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
1/2 cup 1 cup of frozen diced green peppers chopped green peppers
1 can 1 28 oz can of whole tomatoes with sauce that we cut our selves we did not drain ours.
(14.5 oz.)no-salt-added diced tomatoes, drained
1 pkg.
(10 oz.) frozen corn
1 tub
[(10 oz.)PHILADELPHIA Santa Fe Blend Cooking Crème] no longer available see substitution above.
2 cups we used a whole pound of cooked pasta hot cooked rotini pasta
1 cup we used a whole 8oz of cheese KRAFT Shredded Monterey Jack Cheese, divided

Directions

Cook and stir chicken and peppers in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat 6 to 7 min. or until chicken is done. Add tomatoes, corn and cooking crème; cook and stir 3 min.

Add pasta and 1/2 cup shredded cheese; cook and stir 1 to 2 min. or until cheese is melted.

Top with remaining shredded cheese. Remove from heat. Cover; let stand until cheese is melted.

Knorr Smiley360 Mission

I am so glad that I was selected to try Knorr Homestyle stock for one of my Smiley360 missions. I wasn't sure what to expect as I am use to either making my own stock from scratch or using canned stock for my recipes. As the days went by and I still hadn't received my product to try I got a little worried, but just as I was about to write and find out if it had been sent out, it was delivered to my door. First of all I couldn't wait to open my package and see what was inside.
As you can see I got a 4 pack of the Knorr Chicken Homestyle Stock, a ladle, recipe card book, and three 2.00/1 Knorr Homestyle Stock coupons. I still have not priced the Knorr Homestyle Stock so I am not sure how much of a deal it would be if they were used. A few days had gone by since I have received my free samples and today seemed like a great day to try out a new recipe using the Knorr Chicken Homestyle Stock. There were a few recipes given in the booklet they sent, so I scanned them to see which one I had the ingredients for and settled on the Lemon Chicken Primavera recipe. The only substitution I made was for the asparagus. I didn't have fresh so I used frozen. Here you can see all of the ingredients needed to pull off the recipe.
I also used a McCormick whole black peppercorn grinder for the pepper but I am sure you could use what ever you have on hand, and since we don't have regular pepper this had to do. Once I had all of the ingredients set up, I just had to turn on the stove and get it all going. It was quick and easy to make, the only thing left was to let my family be the taste testers. We call our family Marksville and you can find us all over the net by that name as well. I had my daughter set the table, let everyone know that dinner was ready and it was time for the moment of truth. Was this recipe going to be a winner or just another ordinary dinner.
First off I have to say I have never been a fan of anything with Lemon Pepper and stay away from anything asking for it like the plague but I thought at least my husband should like it as he enjoys Lemon Pepper flavored foods. When it was served of course I had to snap the above shot, and then I sat down to give it a try, and I have to say I was really surprised by how good it was. It was a winner with everyone except my 9 year old who doesn't really like anything mixed together but she did eat some rice. Other then that Marksville approves of the recipe and my husband asked if it was made with the stuff  I got in the mail and I told him yes.

Now to talking about the product I received. My free sample of Knorr Chicken Homestyle Stock came in a 4 pack which you can find in most grocery stores at this point. The individual packages are neat because you can use as many as you need for a recipe and you don't have to worry about throwing any away. We had to double our recipe in order to feed our family so I used two of the 4 containers. I thought that the stock would be a liquid but to my surprise it was in a gel like form which was pretty neat. All I did was squeeze the container and out popped the stock no mess, no fuss as my mother would have said. I was also a bit worried that the product would be too salty but again to my surprise it was seasoned just right.

I have to say that I loved cooking with Knorr Homestyle Stock in a new way and was very satisfied with the recipe we chose to try. Thank you Knorr, and thank you Smiley360.

Saline Ambassador

Hello everyone I happen to be a Saline Ambassador and get to try out and give out samples of Boogie Wipes, and Saline Soothers for free. Boogies wipes being marketed more towards children, and the Saline Soothers which are suppose to be more for the adults, but I can tell you us adults like the Boogie wipes just as much as the kids do.

This is my kit for the second quarter all sorted out and ready to go. The big Boogie wipe container is going to the bus driver so that the aide can use them for the kids on the bus. Should be helpful, and I am sure the kids will love them too. This quarter we are encouraged to tell our Dr.'s about them. I am sure our family Dr. will be interested in these as he likes anything that is good for the kids and makes life easier on the parents.

Most of my followers from some of my other blogs know I like to do things spur of the moment so I grabbed my 4 year old daughter Dorothy and did a little video totally unrehearsed, and you would have thought a thousand people were watching her with how little she talked, but I think she got the point out that she loves them, they are easy to open for kids, so you can pack them in their book bags, and since we have started using these she doesn't fight us when we say you need to wipe your nose. She hasn't had any sore noses, and she really loves the grape scent although they also make a unscented version too. She also does a little of the song she made up shortly after getting our first kit. You never know a thousand people just might see her video and therefore her deer in the headlights look might just be justified.

Philadelphia Indulgence Dark Chocolate

Ok I finally got to try a new treat that made it to our area and it was on sale so we had to pick it up and give it a whirl. Sadly the kids already ate all of the Milk Chocolate so I couldn't do a post on that one but I have to say that the Dark Chocolate was very yummy.

Very creamy and so full of chocolate taste.

We were able to pick up some gorgeous Strawberries to try it out with.

Here is a strawberry all ready to be gobbled up. Even though the price is a bit high if you wait till it goes on sale and combine with a coupon it makes a delicious treat.

Have you tried Philadelphia Indulgence yet?

Woolite Extra Dark Care

Woolite Extra Dark Care

I recently got to try a new product through Crowdtap for free. It is called Woolite Extra Dark Care I was given samples to try and to share with friends. I recieved 10 Woolite Extra Dark Care samples, one of which I used while the other 9 I was able to share with friends, family, and even a few strangers along the way.

Inside there was a sample, enough to do one whole load of wash, and a 1.00 off Woolite Detergent 50oz or larger with an expiration of 10/31/2012. Plenty of time to buy a full size bottle and begin to love your clothes longer.

They wanted some pictures of me with the product. So here I am.

When I first got this challenge the first thing I thought was that Woolite if for delicates only, but really if you think about it why not use it on your other clothes to keep them looking new as long as you can. This formula is used to keep your everyday dark clohtes looking like new for longer, but they also have another formula called Woolite complete that you can use for all of your clothes.

Why torture your Jeans?
Woolite. Long live your jeans.

The best thing about Woolite Extra Dark Care is that it is great for your favorite jeans, that vintage t-shirt you love to wear, even your wool sweaters, and any other clothes you love. I know I have clothes that I have had since before I had kids which is over 21 years ago and they are still here and well because I have taken great care of them, and with Woolite Extra Dark Care maybe I will be able to keep them another 21 years. Now that is real vintage.

Here I am using it on my wash.

My daughter wanted me to include a picture of her since she now knows how to do wash, and since she is a fashion girly girl, she needs all of the tips she can get.

The other great thing about being able to sample Woolite Extra Dark Care is I got to tell people that it isn't just for delicates anymore. Many were surprised as much as I was. I am glad I got to do this sampling while getting points at Crowdtap. I love to try new products and tell my friends about the awesome opportunities I get to be apart of.

I hope you enjoyed my review and if you haven't already given Woolite Extra Dark Care or Woolite Complete a try on your favorite clothes, get out there pick up a bottle and help them live longer.

You can find Woolite on Facebook, or at their website. You can even sign up to be a Wooliteer at www.wooliteers.com.

If you have been able to try Woolite Extra Dark Care you might want to share your experience for a chance to win $500.00.

UNREAL Candy Review

I am a BzzAgent and I get to try some products out for free, so that I can tell my friends and family how good or bad they are. When I saw the UNREAL Candy we just had to give it a try. I was sent one free product coupon, and 3 Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupons. I went to CVS to pick ours up. So far this is the only store I see that carries them. They only had 3 flavors out of the 5 available so I used my free coupon and 1 of the Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupons.

I bought the UNREAL5 Chocolate Caramel Nougat Bar Unjunked, UNREAL8 Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat Bar Unjunked, and the UNREAL54 Candy Coated Chocolates with peanuts Unjunked. I would have really loved to try the Peanut butter cups but they didn't have them.

A few days after we bought them the family sat down and divided the candy up into pieces. The below picture is the UNREAL54 Candy Coated Chocolates with Peanuts Unjunked, the colors aren't pretty at all, but I do have to say that I found these camparable to M&M's, although my husband said no way, but did agree they are better then the no name brand of the same sort of candy. These were only a few of the candies, you get a lot more then what is pictured.

The next one we tried was the UNREAL5 Chocoalte Caramel Nougat Bar Unjunked. Now this was very close to a Milky Way Bar which I totally don't like but since I wanted to try as many of the candies as the store had I bought it. Like Milky Way I didn't like this at all so my husband ended up being the tester on this more then the mere bite I took. Of course he didn't like it either because he isn't a fan of Milky Way either. Even though the chocolate was creamy, it just was not for us.

The third Candy we tried was the UNREAL8 Chocolate Caramel Peanut Nougat Bar Unjunked. This was creamy, and good. This was like a Snickers Bar but different. I enjoyed this very much. I do wish they would make them as big as the competors bars because for the price you pay for these, well not in my case but the regular price of these candies is 1.19 a piece, which I think is quite steep. I like to get candy for under .50, with the Buy 1 Get 1 Free coupon it was close.

If you are looking for a Candy that doesn't have all of the junk in it, this may be for you. I know I liked the taste of the chocolate it was very smooth and flavorful. I didn't have the aftertaste others had said they had, and still would love to try the Peanut Butter Cup Version so that I could give the UNREAL Candy Unjunked line my full review but as of yet they still only have the 3 flavors that I already tried above. They do however have the huge bags of them, but I am not willing to put that much money out before trying a smaller package of them first.

I hope you have enjoyed my review and decide to give the UNREAL Candy Line a try, and don't be afraid to stop back and let me know what you thought about it.

You can find UNREAL Candy Unjunked online at UNREAL Candy.
And on Facebook at UNREAL

Scents of Marksville

I am a BzzAgent and I get to try products out for free or for a big discount, and then tell my friends, family, and readers all about them. This time I was given the opportunity to try out the Glad Expressions Collection.

Below is my coupon pack that included free coupons for the Glade Expressions Fragrance Mist starter kit in which I bought the Cotton & Italian Mandarin, and a Glade Expressions Oil Diffuser starter kit. We decided on Pineapple & Mangasteen. There were also extra coupons for me to pass onto friends and family. They went quickly. Most people know if I am on to a good deal they should probably jump in too.

What I like most about Glad products is that they are affordable and usually you can get some pretty awesome coupons in the Sunday Supplements. Glade is also coming out with different fragrances so that we can change it up as much as our lives change. There must be a fragrance that everyone will lean towards. I really like how they made the mist bottle so that the outside sticker comes off and then you can keep in the room making it look like a piece of your decor instead of a unsightly can. The Oil Diffuser even goes a bit further and goes with just about any decor except maybe cat box, but hey it might work for someone. Either way they both do the job, and make it so plesent to walk into our home.

I am not sure if the kids are changing out the cat box more often or if the Glad fragrances are masking the smell but I know now when I walk in my home I don't smell our kitty box, which is the most embarrassing thing for us. You don't want the first smell for people who are visiting to smell to be an unclean cat box, just is not a good start at all.

Make sure to check out Glade.com for more information on the Glade Expression Collection.

You can also get some great coupons.

You can save $4.00 on the Glade Expressions Oil Diffuser at http://u.bzz.com/uxr9h
You can also save $2.00 on the Glade Expressions Fragrance Mist at http://u.bzz.com/qiesi

Well I hope you decide to give them a try, below you can see all of the scents that are available in the Glade Expressions Collection. I would love to hear if you have tried them and which scent you decided on, or liked best.

Cotton & Italian Mandarin - Open your home with the bright, breezy blend of cotton and sparkling citrus, honeydew and sandalwood*
Fuji Apple & Cardamom Spice - A ripe, spicy blend of sweet pears and crisp apple with a dash of cinnamon and clove that warms and invigorates
Lavender & Juniper Berry - Lush lavender blends with fresh juniper berry, eucalyptus and rose to relax the senses and open your home
Pineapple & Mangosteen - Evoke a tropical paradise with the blend of freshly cut pineapples and hint of tangy mangosteen, creamy coconut and passionflower

*Available in Glade Expressions® Fragrance Mist only.

Perdue Oven Ready Products

Perdue Oven Ready

I am a Bzzagent which means I get to try products for free or for a reduced price, then tell my friends, and family all about my experience with the product or service I have tried. This time I was able to take part in trying out the Perdue Oven Ready Products. As you can see below we chose to try the Roaster.

Oven ready whenever you are
Cooking a delicious roasted chicken at home is a whole lot easier with PERDUE® OVEN READY Products. All you need is an oven and an appetite. Deliciously seasoned and ready to cook perfectly in a convenient cook-in bag, every PERDUE® OVEN READY Roast is designed for no prep, no mess and easy clean-up. It's easier than easy. Just:
  1. Open.
  2. Cook.
  3. Serve!
No joke. Just open the outer bag, place the inner bag in the oven and bake for about 90 minutes.* The cook-in bag helps you put incredibly juicy, tender chicken on the table for your family.
*Cook time varies per product; see details on package for cooking instructions.

Here I am opening the bag.

Now I am taking it out of the bag that it was sold in and seeing that the chicken is actually in a cooking bag inside, which means easy clean up if everything works out right.

Here I am putting the holes in the bag as is required.

There it is in the pan all ready to go.

Here I am reading the bag to be sure I don't have to do anything else, thinking this is too easy.

I would have loved to have another picture of the finnished product but by the time I got the camera out someone had already started to dig into the chicken.

Once it was cooked and apparently started to be sampled before I could grab my camera. I have to say that the meat was moist. The only thing I really didn't like is that the bag stuck to the chicken so when we took it out of the oven to serve and peeled the bag away it also took some of the meat with it, so it wasn't a perfect presentation but for a family dinner at home with no guests it was just perfect, by the way there were no leftovers when my family was done.

Will I purchase this product again? I sure will as long as it is on sale and I have a coupon. I plan to purchase the cornish hens next for a special meal for my husband and I to enjoy, which I will probably do another blog to see if the bag does the same thing to the meat or not.

I would encourage anyone who wants to put a nice meal on the table who doesn't want to clean up a lot to check out Perdue Oven Ready Products because they might be your answer to a great dinner with family.

You can find even more about Perdue Products at the below links.

Afrin No Drip Nasal Spray Review

As most of you know I am a BzzAgent and I get to try products for free or at a reduced price and then tell my friends, family, and even complete strangers what I thought about the product. This time I was given a full size sample of Afrin No Drip Original Pump Mist with 12 Hour Relief.
I get congested in the winter months so this was a perfect item for me to try. The first time I used it I did have drips but only because I forgot to sniff in, when I administered it to the second nostril I didn't have any drips at all. There was also nothing nasty tasting going down my throat. Within a few minutes I could feel my nose draining which for me is down my throat, but again there was no aftertaste, which is wonderful for me, getting high marks for the I will use it again factor.
The only problem after using it is I felt that my throat and nose were dry, as if they needed to be moisturized. I don't want anyone to be congested but if you ever do find yourself looking at the shelf in the store laden with so many products why not pick yourself up Afrin No Drip and give it a try. You can get more information about Afrin at theAfrin website.

Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Review

As most of you know I am a BzzAgent and I get to try things for free so that I can report back to my friends, and family on what we thought about the products. This time I got to try out Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Cereal, which before I even signed up for this BzzAgent campaign, I had gotten a great deal at the store paying only about .50 a box for each box of cereal I bought. We hadn't tried them yet, so they were just sitting back in our pantry. We didn't realize the Gold Mine we were sitting on.

Our family loves cereal, but only a few hit the mark where everyone in the house enjoys it. This cereal hit the mark and once the first box that was sent from BzzAgent arrived it didn't take long to go through all 10 boxes that I had in our pantry. Here you can see me snacking on some while watching some of the Kellogg's Crunchy Nut commercials on youtube.

The only problem we had is that the box was way too small for our large family, so we went through them pretty quickly. Other wise the price is about the going rate for cereal, but as you read I was able to get mine fairly cheap by combining a coupon that could be doubled at a store that was running a sale at the same time. I hope that there will be more coupons to get more, or at least a great sale so we can pick more up for our family. I am missing them already. We have however started on the Kellogg's flake cereal of the same brand, which I haven't personally tried, but my daughter assures me they are just as good.

I hope you get the chance to try them for yourself and stop back here and let me know how you liked them. You can also check out some of the sites below for more information about this cereal, and the other products Kellogg's offers.

Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Facebook. You can stay in the know with what is going on with this brand.

Kellogg's Website is where you can find recipe's, promotions, and pretty much anything else you would like to know about the products they offer.

Cafe Escapes Review

Being a BzzAgent is wonderful. I get to try new products and then tell my friends, family, and blog readers how much I enjoyed or didn't enjoy the products. I am happy to report that I was able to sample Café Escapes with some friends and family.

In my kit I was given.
  • Two four-count samplers:
  • One with Milk Chocolate Hot Cocoa, Dark Chocolate Hot Cocoa, Chai Latte and Café Mocha
  • One with two Café Caramels and two Café Vanillas
  • Pass-along coupons for $2 off any 12ct Café Escapes® K-Cup® packs

  •
Above you can see I am all set up for the party. The cups are my favorite gift my husband got me for Christmas. No need for sugar or cream, they were all perfectly flavored to use alone in our Keurig. This made me a true Keurig user, before these came along it was mainly my husband's machine, but now the whole family has found drinks, and uses for it.

I am not a big coffee drinker, but I love hot cocoa, and tea. These Café Escapes gave me something new and grown up to drink, with flavors I was craving. The hot cocoa's were a given but I was really surprised by how wonderful the Chai Lattes were and the Café Caramels were divine.

People were really happy to receive coupons to try Café Escapes. I wish I had more to pass out, or at least some to use for myself. These were yummy.. They run about 11.99 for a 16ct package, but I am sure if you wait for a sale, you can you can get them much cheaper. If you are like me you will be on the look out for coupons to make them even more affordable and then stock up when the price is right.

The only thing I can say is that I wish I was given more samples and coupons. Thinking back I wish I had hid them all away for myself to enjoy at my leisure.

You can follow Café Escapes on Facbook, Twitter, or even check out their  Website.

Tom's of Maine Wicked Cool Toothpaste Review

Recently I was sent a sample from smiley360 to try Tom's of Maine Wicked Cool Toothpaste which is recommended for children ages 8+. My 10 year old thinks we should but this from now on, and my 15 year old was quick to point out neat the box was with the peace sign on it. I totally missed that. My 5 year old was bummed because I wouldn't let her try it because of the recommended age.

Above you can see what I got in my kit. My Smiley360 mission card, and a nice 1.00 off coupon for me to use to purchase more. Wish they had sent coupons to hand out to people I spoke with about it though.

I also got a sample of Tom's of Maine Wicked Toothpaste for my girls to try. Love the designs all over the box, makes it that much more cooler for the kiddies.

Below you can see the review my girls did for Tom's of Maine Wicked Cool Toothpaste. I think they did a good job. They did this with no practice and not knowing how the toothpaste was going to taste.
My 10 year old says she wants me to buy this from now on, while my 15 year old thought it was a bit too fruity for her, but was quick to point out how neat the box was when she saw the Peace Signs which made it an instant hit with her.

The only thing I have a problem with is that it is a bit expensive for our budget, but if I find it on sale and have a coupon I will pick some up. Other then that it was a winner with my family.
I would love for our family to have a chance to be able to try out more of their products.

You can find out more about Tom's of Maine toothpaste and their other products at
    Twitter & their

We had never tried their products before but will be more willing to try them in the future. Thank you smiley360 and Tom's of Maine for the sample.

    Media Links:

Rod Stewart is one of the artists out there that bring back many fond memories of time with my father. When Rod was on TV it was one of the only times I was able to stay up late with my father to view his performances.

My father was a farmer but he enjoyed all kinds of music and made sure that I was introduced to many different genres at an early age.

I do have to say I have a soft spot for the British. My grandfather was from Coventry England, and it is in my blood I guess. Everything from music, books, movies, sports, food, and dialect.

It is amazing to hear Rod Stewart at 68. He has a voice that is unique, welcoming, and unchanged.

I don't have a favorite track because I enjoyed every one of them. I was just happy that he put out another album. Don't get me wrong I love his other albums too, but having some new content this great just adds to how talented Rod Stewart really is.

As I was listening to the CD for about the 5th time today I decided to take a look at the CD case, and for those who love to know the lyrics, you will be glad to know that the CD includes all of the words to the songs.

I hope you will take the time to check out his album, and maybe even comment on what your favorite Rod Stewart song of all time is.

Stewart rediscovered the spark for songwriting while reviewing his life for his recent memoir.

"Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head," he says. "Next thing I knew, I had a song called 'It's Over' about divorce and separation. And now I was getting up in the middle of the night and scrambling for a pen to write things down, which has never happened to me. I finished seven or eight songs very quickly and I still wasn't done, and it became apparent that I would eventually have a whole album of material to record."

Don't miss Rod on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight! You can also catch his TV appearances on The Voice on May 8, Good Morning America on May 9, and Live With Kelly & Michael on May 11.
