Menopause or Pregnancy

Menopause or Pregnancy that is the question. With my current age it seems to lean more towards Menopause but I have never missed a menstrual cycle other then when I was pregnant or breastfeeding so our next move it to visit the Dr. for a prognosis. I am currently 3 weeks and counting late. Just the odds of getting pregnant naturally at my age is huge.

Being a born learner I wanted to become aware of all of the good and bad for either. The similarities between Menopause and Pregnancy are so close. Leave it up to God to make it so hard to tell the difference. Now I know why older women go into labor and never knew they were pregnant, they probably just thought they were going through Menopause.

Pregnancy at my age will be hard.  The medication I am on has to come to stop for the healthiest pregnancy. Since I vomit everything up lets just say my body is rejecting the medication anyways. The chances of going full term or even better getting past the first trimester will be a miracle, but I have seen more then one in my day so I will go with whatever God has planned for us.

Have we been trying to have another child? We were but gave up as we grew older and my weight went through the roof. We have posed the question to most of our children about having another sibling. Remember we now have 4 grand children of our own. Most of them are supportive but worry about our health and growing age which is understandable. My husband and I have been through all of these questions ourselves, knowing the risks, but also know that if we are blessed with another child it will be the will of God.

Update soon. Let me know what you think below. If you have been through Menopause or have been pregnant at age 45 or above please give me some advice below.

Making Babies

I was recently able to view Making Babies thanks to Huber Bros. Productions so that I could give my honest opinion of the movie. Both my husband and myself are avid movie viewers. We loved them growing up, our first date was at a movie theater, our children grew up going to movie theaters as a family, and us for date nights, we even worked for a movie theater before, we enjoy seeing movies as often as we can, we even quote movie scenes in daily life when they fit the part.

I viewed this movie on my own and I went through a roller coaster of emotions. It could be my age I happen to be 46 going on 47 but I hit happiness, hope, joy, sadness, excitement, and utter amusement to name a few. This movie deals with real issues of struggling to have a baby before your time runs out and making choices with health insurance, finances, dreams, all while family, friends, and everyone in between is giving you advice on how to do it.

There is humor. I didn't find it gut breaking humor but it is there in a sweet way and sometimes strange way at least to me. I encourage those who are struggling to have a baby to watch this movie as well as those who aren't struggling so they know the other side and what their friends, neighbors, and not so good friends might be going through.

Coming from someone who had an easy time having children it really opened my eyes and I hope it will for you too. It isn't always easy to have children. Sometimes it is a struggle from the very beginning, but can be so worth it.

Is it a chick flick? Yes I guess it is, but if you are trying to get pregnant it is also a couples flick, so fellas give it a chance. By the way you would want to miss the funny scenes with guys in it anyways so go along just for that if not for anything else. See ladies I had you covered. wink wink So I hope you enjoy it as much as I did check out the trailer below and let me know what you think.

Distribution Company: Huber Bros. Productions
In Theaters: March 29th
Directed & Written by: Josh Huber
Starring: Eliza Coupe, Steve Howey, Bob Stephenson, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ed Begley Jr, and
the late Glenne Headly
Running Time: 86 minutes

Katie and John Kelly (Eliza Coupe and Steve Howey) are ready to settle down and have kids but
five years later, all they have to show for their efforts is a mountain of negative pregnancy tests
and an increasingly elaborate home micro-brewing rig, which John hopes will launch his
company.  As they run out of traditional options and their window closing, the couple explores
the daunting world of medical, spiritual, and homeopathic methods to conceive a child. With an
ensemble cast that also includes Bob Stephenson, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ed Begley Jr., Jon Daly,
and the late Glenne Headly, MAKING BABIES puts a couple through the ringer of modern
infertility treatments and questions whether their marriage will withstand the ultimate test.

ComfiLife Orthopedic Knee Pillow

Being a side sleeper I have to put a pillow between my legs. I have been wanting a pillow like this one from ComfiLife for quite sometime. This pillow can be put between the upper or lower legs depending on your needs. This pillow is made from memory foam with a zippered cover that can be washed and hung to dry when needed.

Side sleepers everywhere like me who have back pain, or those are pregnant will be thankful for a pillow like this. As a person with arthritis of the lower lumbar a pillow like this can be the difference between a good day or a day filled with pain. I still have bad days but they are just from flair ups, weather changes, or my Fibromyalgia.

The ComfiLife Orthopedic Knee Pillow can be found at my affiliate link below.

Littlemade Diaper Bag

I am super excited about this baby bag for two reasons. One because it is so cute and two after I review it I get to give this as a gift to a first time mom. This bag is awesome. This bag from Littlemade is a perfect size with lots of pockets and extras to keep you organized so you spend more time with your little one.

This set came with the diaper bag which has a nice shoulder strap, stroller straps for attaching to your stroller, an insulated bottle bag, changing pad, and a little purse which I like to call the mommy bag for things she might need like lip gloss, hand cream, a pony tail holder, little brush, compact mirror, and any little extras she might need for a trip out with baby.

This bag will take any caregiver through the day and into the night if need be. There is one large pocket in back, zippered pouch in front, two side gusseted pockets then inside you have more pockets and a large interior for bigger items.

As a mom I used my diaper bags way past the baby stage, into the toddler and even further ages. It went from a bag for one to a bag for many and then into a quite bag. A quite bag is what we call the bag we take with us for appointments where the children need to be on their best behavior. We fill it with quite but fun items and change the items out often so the children don't get board with what is inside.

The Littlemade diaper bag can be found on Amazon.

Congratulations You're Pregnant

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Congratulations You're Pregnant
written by
Angie Walker Y Fenyw

Even though this book is slotted towards first time parents, it is a great reference for any mother to bee. It has sections for information as well as the weeks broken down. So now you can know what your body will be going through and what to expect.

I love that this tells you what to avoid, not everyone knows about these things, and also tells you what to do more of. Eating the right foods at the right stages is so important to your child's health as well as your own.

I love the weekly breakdowns. This is a great gift idea for those who are expecting as well as those trying to conceive.

You can find Congratulations You're Pregnant on Smashwords

What Angie Walker Y Fenyw has to say about her book.

A new ebook on the facts of pregnancy up to giving birth for new mothers.

Congratulations, you’re pregnant! If this is your first pregnancy, you will be full of questions and your first stop should be your doctor or midwife, they are the professionals and will give you the most up to date information. This little book is intended as a guide about the facts of pregnancy and you and your baby's nutritional needs. Make educated choices about your health.

Perfect for the bowl throwing baby

Feeding children is always a chore but a baby can be a bit more of that. They want to spit the food out, grab the spoon, draw with the food, throw the food, as well as wear the food.

The suction cup on the Snug Baby feeding bowl will keep the bowl where it belongs. The lip is great if you are holding the bowl in your hand to feed your child. The spoon is an added extra and completes the feeding bowl for a all in one gift.

Easy to wash and is also Dishwasher safe.

You can find this baby feeding bowl on Amazon.

What Snug has to say about their product.
Feeding baby doesn't have to mean a mess. This Snug Suction Bowl and Spoon set comes with everything you need to give baby a taste of real food, in a neat and convenient package. Perfect for babies who are just learning to eat solid foods.
Easy to hold shape
Nothing's worse than spills during feeding time. Prevent the mess (at least from you) with this bowl's easy to hold design. It stays securely in your hands, so you can get a tighter grip and avoid unsightly messes.
Spoon just right for baby
The set comes with a spoon that's made to fit perfectly in tiny mouths. This allows baby to get a good grip around it, preventing messes as baby learns to eat solid food. Despite its small size, it still holds enough food to give your child adequate bites for a full feeding. The spoon also has an easy to hold handle, making it easy for you to use, as well as for baby when he's ready to start trying to self-feed.
Hygienic cover keeps baby safe
When it's time to travel, or store the bowl and spoon away for next time, this set comes with a hygienic cover to keep the spoon free of dirt, dust, and grime. Just wash and put the cover on for next time.
Easy maintenance and stylish colours
The green and yellow colour scheme makes this set fitting for boys and girls alike. You'll also find both pieces to be easy to maintain and clean, since they're easy to wipe clean after use.

Having another Baby

Years ago before we had the internet all I could find for nursing pads were disposable pads that stuck to the nipples and caused more pain then good. With my third child was born we were able to find a set but they were so expensive we only got one set of 4, which I had to wash and dry every day so I could use them on a regular basis. Skip ahead a few years and you can find them on the internet for sale in lots of places, still not so much in brick and mortar stores but on the internet there are lots to choose from.

I look for comfort first which these have, washable, reusable, etc. These hit all of my wants, actually I was very surprised with just how soft these were even after washing. Personally I am 43 having had 5 live births, a miscarriage, and taking care of other peoples children for years, and we always said we would be the parents who were 45 and pregnant.

Let's just say we are highly thinking of taking the plunge to have another child. So keep your eyes openend you never know when another little one will pop up here in Marksville.

You can find these Nursing Pads on Amazon
