I am thrilled to see this and share it with you. One of my favorite film genres is Mystery. With this being rated PG, that means the whole family can enjoy it together.
Internet sleuth (or "webtective") Dot Conner receives a cryptic phone call from her father on the eve of her first day of high school, plunging her into an adventure she never expected to face. As Dot navigates the rocky start of her high school life, she uncovers the first of many clues her father has left behind, setting her on an urban treasure hunt with friends Makayla and Alex. Their quest leads them through the city, crossing paths with dangerous Russian
thugs as they go. What begins as a search for her father quickly unravels into a much larger mystery, revealing his deep involvement in the world of espionage. Amid the chaos, Dot discovers the truth of Philippians 4:13, proving that even in the darkest times, faith can light the way. Written and directed by Andrew Huff, featuring Drew Waters and Jason Marsden. A Huff Media Productions presentation, in association with Pangea Pictures.
Mystery movies, shows, and books are right at the top of my list of favorites. Dot Conner: Webtective, although meant for teens, is a pretty good family movie with a little bit of humor thrown in. You can tell right from the beginning that religion is a big part of Dot's family, and she is proud to tell others of her faith. In one part, they do a video sweep of her bedroom, and on her nightstand stand you see a lamp with Nancy Drew Books nearby, which is a classic nod to one of the greatest sets of mystery books available. Nancy Drew and Scooby Doo are why I enjoy mysteries so much.
This movie moved along well with the characters and plot. I can see this being made into a series quite easily. Dot has a web page where she works through her mysteries with the help of verses from the Bible, a loving family, and some good friends.

Salvation Poem
I am so blessed to have another faith-filled family movie to tell you about. Light of the World is a 2D hand-drawn animation. This is the first movie from Salvation Poem Project, which is a ministry committed to sharing Jesus with the world. Director Jon Schafer was the producer of the beloved program Superbook. Director Tom Bancroft was a long-time animator with Disney who worked on films like The Lion King, Mulan, and Beauty and the Beast. Movieguide is quoted as saying, "It stresses faith, family, and trusting in God's plan. It's beautifully animated and entertaining...based entirely on the Bible"
It’s AD 30 and everyone is expectantly awaiting the coming Messiah. While Jesus isn’t exactly what they imagined, there is something special about this man. Soon, John, James, Andrew, Peter, and their new friends begin to follow Jesus on an unexpected adventure. This beautiful, 2D-animated story of Jesus is told through the eyes of his beloved young friend, the Apostle John. Fromthe beginning of Jesus’ ministry through his crucifixion and resurrection, LIGHTOFTHEWORLD powerfully illustrates how Jesus of Nazareth changed theworld forever and still changes lives today!

My review
Light of the World was a fresh take on how things might have been through the youngest disciple, John. The animation and the portrayal of John's age in the movie will capture the attention of both children and adults. Even my husband, who reads the Bible almost every day didn't know John was the youngest disciple, so it opened his eyes a bit and he wants to revisit the books of John again.
I love it when movies encourage you to seek more information. This movie did that, and I can't wait to hear what my son and grandsons think of the film.

I am so excited to be able to share this news with my readers. Maybe you have already seen A Week Away, the movie. We loved it. Now you can see A Week Away: The Series available on Angel.com.
A Week Away: The Series is targeted towards young adults, but is also great for families and adults.
About the Film
THIS MUSICAL SERIES follows a group of teens as they embark on a summer at Camp Aweegaway
— a Christian camp filled with adventure, friendships, and unexpected self-discovery
It’s an expressive and resonant story about identity, trust, and the courage to confront oneself. A Week Away: The Series offers a tender space for those burdened by doubt and pain to explore the possibility of hope and the power of a found family.
The story follows a defiant foster teen who is dragged to church camp, determined to resist what he sees as the hollow promises of faith. But rejection gives way to introspection, and the walls he’s built begin to crack. As he discovers he’s not alone in the struggle against grief, anger, and the ache of belonging, he learns that healing can’t be forced— it must be chosen.
A Week Away: The series is fun, engaging, and suitable for the whole family, exploring themes of faith and values through character-driven storytelling rather than direct sermons.
"Christian High School Musical" / "Camp Rock with faith message" / "Disney Channel meets Bible camp"
After seeing the movie A Week Away which I loved by the way, I kind of knew what to expect going into A Week Away: The Series. Since this is a musical, think High School Musical meets Salute Your Shorts but with a faith-based theme. It not only shows young adults with doubts about God but how they work through those feelings to begin or continue their own jouney with God.
Today some young adults have seen and or been through so much it can be hard for them to find where they belong, much less believe in God, or heal from where they are. This show shows some of what it may look like for someone struggling to break free from the chains holding them back and move forward with their lives. This is a great show to watch together as a family, full of fun, music, while encouraging faith in God.

Welcome to The Short Game

I am happy to bring you another faith-based film. The Short Game is an inspiring new film that explores themes of perseverance, identity, and faith—all through the lens of competitive junior golf. It’s a heartfelt journey for the whole family that highlights character as much as competition. The Short Game is coming to theaters on August 29th, 2025.
About The Short Game
An uplifting, family-friendly film that follows the journeys of young golfers from around the world as they compete in one of the most prestigious youth golf tournaments on the planet.
Among them is Jeremy Avery, a determined teen vying for a college golf scholarship awarded to the winner of the State Championship. But Jeremy’s preparation and performance are challenged by family pressures—especially his responsibility to care for his younger autistic brother, Ethan. As he carries the weight of his team and faces an opponent willing to do anything to win, Jeremy embarks on a journey of discovery, uncovering not only his own resilience but also Ethan’s remarkable, savant-like gifts. Together, they just might become an unstoppable pair. But on the brink of his greatest victory, Jeremy is faced with a life-altering decision: chase his personal dream or stand by his brother.
Personally, I thought this film was much better than the other well-known golf movie that is playing out there. I loved how it showed the family overcoming struggles along the way, working as a team. This film had awe moments, happy moments, sad moments, as well as tense moments. It was well done and even fit some faith in. The aspects of faith fit in perfectly and did not feel forced, which is sometimes hard to do in films, but The Short Game did it so perfectly that it felt natural.
