Getting ready to learn how to sew

I am just getting into sewing. You must be thinking she has 6 kids and is just learning to sew? Well I can sew a button on by hand and make a small gap in clothing closed with no problem but I want to learn how to use a Sewing Machine.

With our move and now another move I had to put it off once again, but I learned that there are different presser feet for different kinds of sewing. Who knew? OK well I didn't.

This 42 piece presser feet kit from Simpzia is just what I needed. It comes with pictures of each foot and what you use it for. Can not wait to get my machine open and learn to sew. The biggest project I want to make is a quilt for each of my children made from their shirts, jerseys, and favorite lovies from their child hood. After that I am not sure where it will lead me but this is something I have been saving up for over 27 years so far. I am sure I will be using several of these presser feet to obtain my goal.

Check them out below at my affiliate link.

Mending made easy

One thing we have been missing and needing since we have been homeless is a sewing kit so we can repair clothing. Luck would have it a review for one came up and I snagged it. The Ebeauty 100 piece sewing kit includes 32 * assorted thread spools 32 * matching bobbins 30 * needles in a box 1* scissors 1 * soft measuring tape 2 * thimbles 2 * threaders which is packaged for gift giving and makes a wonderful beginner kit.

I love that it comes with threaders as I love this item the most. The assortment of needles was good too so you have different sizes for different tasks. I know this color palate will do well in our family because we love to wear colorful clothing. There is something for just about any color you may need.

I think this would be great for beginners which I already said or even for someone who needs to refill their sewing box that is running short on several things. Now we can finally sew up my daughters pants so they can continue to wear them.

The Ebeauty 100 piece sewing kit can be found on Amazon.

Keeping your children busy during the summer part 1

Summer is officially here in Marksville. My 18 year old has graduated, my 12 year old is attending British Soccer and once that ends will be attending the Drama program for most of the rest of the summer. My 7 year old has kind of been left in the dust this year for activities, so I have been putting little projects away for her so she had things to do in between our family plans for the summer.

One of them is this Doll Night Gown sewing kit. It does say ages 9 and up so I will be right next to her while she does this and will report back on how things go in another blog with the same tags and labels so my readers can find it easily in the next few weeks.

I really like that it came with everything but the scissors to cut the fabric. That means I don't have to search the house for a needle, thread, pins, etc. We can just reopen it back up and get right to business.

As a mom I really like projects like this that are clearly laid out so that the project comes out as expected and not totally different. Not that we don't like different it is just that we don't like when things don't look anything like they are supposed to or something that gets your child upset because it is too hard for them to achieve what is shown.

If you have extra fabric around your home I can see the pattern being used for many more nightgowns so your child's doll will have a nightgown for each night of the week. I have a feeling my daughter will want me to find fabric of a similar color so she can have a matching nightgown of her own.

I really hope to see more patterns and kits in the near future from this company to keep my daughter sewing for years to come.

You can purchase the Complete Sewing Package for 18 inch doll Nightgown on Amazon.

Quick Stitch Sewing Kit

Have you ever been out and about and a button falls off, or you have a rip that needs a little loving care? This sewing kit is perfect for quick fixes or to have stashed near your laundry room. I myself have a pile of clothes to be sewing and to be honest the only time I have ever sewed besides putting on a button was in Jr. High for a stuffed animal project ( I got most original, enough said), and when I was pregnant. Have no idea just felt the need to sew.

I love that everything has a place and is organized for quick retrieval. When you are done everything stores back inside and zips up all in one neat case.

You can purchase the Quick Stitch Sewing Kit on Amazon.
