I have only had a Vitamin B-12 shortage once that I know of and it was during one of my pregnancies. I have seen most B-12 shortages in those who are Vegans, pregnant, or have other health issues going on.
My oldest daughter during her second pregnancy had to get infusions of Vitamin B-12, but once she had the baby her blood tests were fine. She was the pregnancy I also had this shortage with. Might have been that the only meat she would even let me eat was poached or grilled chicken and Albacore Tuna, and that was even far and in between.
