Health Update

Between homeschooling, family day, Narnia Night, and having my granddaughter over for the weekend, we have been super busy. Also, we were hit with a lot of information and are still sorting things out. First of all, when they find cancer they like to come up with a plan within the first 30 days. Because of my other health issues, it will take a bit more time to sort out.

I have to get my Gynecologist to contact my Surgeon to see what his plan for the growth on my ovaries will be. When and if they cut me they want it to be once. My biopsies have been sent to a second pathologist for more testing. Also, I have to have more tests to make sure my cancer has not spread. They don't want to do anything with my diverticulitis right now unless it is an emergency and I was told I could eat anything as the seeds, nuts, etc are only a myth (so many Dr.'s and patients disagree with this).

We talked about weight loss surgery but we have kept food diaries in the past and I eat less than most people so my weight gain doesn't match my intake, so maybe more movement is needed which has gotten seriously less over the last 13 years due to pain from my fibromyalgia, back, and of course more weight gain from not moving as much. There just isn't an easy answer to all of this. To be quite honest it seems like we don't have all of the information we need yet. So until the Dr.'s talk, the results from the pathology come back, and I get more testing we are at a standstill.

I am sorry I don't have any better news, my health issues just make it extremely hard for the Dr.'s to come up with a plan to treat or medicate me. I hope to have more of an update in the coming weeks. I am scared, this isn't easy on me or my family. We are just praying and taking one day at a time, enjoying the time we have together, and finding joy in each day, until we can take the next step. Thank you to everyone who keeps asking how we are doing and for updates. Keep the prayers coming. Hugs.

SantaMedical Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer

Having a reliable way to take your child's temperature when they are sick is a must have. One thing that always seems to be missing is the thermometer when you need it. Maybe it is because most thermometers are small and can be misplaced in the wee hours of the night when you are trying to care for a child, or maybe they are like socks you put them in the washer together but by the time they come out you only have one. Either way I like the bigger thermometers with quick temp like this one by SantaMedical Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer.

I love that this came with the batteries. It will take 2 AAA batteries when those die out. Easy to use, comes with a nice case to keep it clean between uses, and big enough that it won't be lost as easily. This is the thermometer for me, no more turning on the light to take your child's temperature and trying to read the tiny numbers. This has a backlight and big bold numbers.

You can find this infrared Thermometer on Amazon.

What Gurin has to say about their product.

The Santa Medical non-contact infrared (IR) clinical thermometer provides a simple, expedient, and accurate way for initial fever screenings by taking the temperature of areas on the face such as the forehead or tear ducts. It obtains the body temperature reading with 0.3 degree accuracy in less than 1 second. The Santa Medical IR thermometer features an intuitive guidance system to secure positioning and confirm accurate readings.

March 18th, 2014

So here I am. Just to let you know that cake still hasn't happened. Yesterday I dealt with body wide pain, I was sleepy, and went to bed early. I did however do part of our grocery shopping with my daughter Dennise in tow. She loaded and unloaded everything for me as the pain was pretty bad, but not bad enough to ride in a cart which I do from time to time when we are out and the pain is too much.

Today I slept in, oh that reminds me I have to take my medicine. Hold on. Got a phone call from Samantha my oldest daughter while I was taking it. Will post about that in my other blog One Mother's account of Daily Life later. So where was I oh the pain for today. So far it is in the right side of my neck, my elbows, shoulder blades and thighs. A good day for me to catch up on chores but a day we have to go to the Dr. for my husband to get his measles shot.

He got them when he was little but when he started college no one could find a copy of his shot records so they had to do a blood test and he failed in the measles department so if he wants to stay in college he had to get the shots again to bring him up to 100% immunity.

I am sure while we are out we will meet up with Samantha and the girls for a bit and because it is Tuesday we will probably eat at one of our favorite restaurants. They serve Prime Rib with soup, salad, veggie, potato, bread basket, and dessert all for 12.95 although I think they might have raised it a dollar but it will count as our date night.

So that is it for today but remember "\anything can be achieved in time".

Diagnosis Fibromyalgia

My name is Pamela as many of you may know from my other blogs, and I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I had already planned to do this blog but my husband told me yesterday I need to keep a pain journal, so I promised him I would start it on Sunday which happens to be today, so one thing checked off of my lists to do.

I will get into more about the start of my pain and diagnosis and treatment in the future but while I was thinking of it I wanted to get this up, because if I don't do it while I am thinking of it, you never know when I will get to it again.

Pain for today is mostly near my wrists, lower legs, knees, left side of neck, upper arms and elbows. Not such a bad day for me so I have made it to my daughters basketball games, washed the dishes, folded most of the clothes and pretty much delegated everything else I could think of to the rest of the family. I do plan on making a new to me recipe to try out for dessert tomorrow night later on when the kids are in bed while I have the energy but lets see first if I make it that far.

Usually I am in bed before the kids. Luckily they are pretty good getting themselves ready for bed and up in the morning for school. I am blessed in that area. Every now and then someone will forget to put their clothes aside for the next day or maybe even misplace a book bag, paper, or other item needed for school, and I come to their rescue to help them retrace their steps to find what they need. On a good morning when I am doing well, I am able to do something special with one of the smaller kids hair, which makes them feel special.

I hope that this will help my Dr's out in providing the right kind of care for me in the future. This is also a place where others can learn about Fibromyalgia as I do and know they are not alone in the pain they are feeling. I hope today has been good for everyone and here is to the mystery of what tomorrow will hold for each of us.

My motto is "anything can  be achieved in time" Start with a second and work your way up to minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years.
