Official Money Guide for Couples

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

It is never too late to learn how to get your finances in order. We have been married for 30 plus years and we are just beginning to get ours in line. We married young, had a ton of kids, and lived very busy lives. We just never really took the time to learn things. Sure we skated by with a couple of falls and setbacks, but we never really learned to save for ourselves, children, or our retirement. What can I say we lived paycheck to paycheck and when we had extra money we spent it quickly on things we had deprived ourselves from having the rest of the time. So here we are at the age of 49 with hardly any savings. Sure we have no debt but we don't have anything saved or to show other then our family for the 30 years we have been together.

So like I said it is never to late to learn. Take for instance the book "Official Money Guide for Couples" this is a great book to start with if you are in relationship. There are many more to choose from but this is a good start and will help you make better choices, hopefully earlier then us but even if you are younger then us take the leap and learn more about finances not just for today or tomorrow but for years to come.

I believe if we had some guidance all of those years before things might have worked out very different for us along the way, but we can't change the past we can only move forward from where we are today. Since the beginning of 2020 many families have felt the sting of not saving earlier. Times are hard on tons of people and even if you can't save right now this book can really put you on the right track to getting your finances in order and changing your life over time for the better.

In the last year we have saved a little bit of money here and there so we have something in case of emergency. Now we are taking all of our money saving tips we have used over the years and are combining them with what we have learned in this book to do more with what we have. I don't think we are ready for the stock market just yet but hey it is a possibility.

If you are interested in learning more check out the book below or even visit their site. Links at bottom of post. There are products for kids to adults so that everyone in your family can learn to take care of their money better. Here is to everyone making a change in their lives one step at a time, it's never too late.

I am so happy to introduce my readers to yet another installment to the Terry Treetop Series. My family are big fans of Terry and the author Tali Carmi. She has many good books out there written for children. You can see some of my other reviews here. Now onto Terry Treetop and The Snow Goose.

We know that Terry Treetop is always watching and watch he did as the Geese went by. He decided to set up a place for them to rest inbetween their flights. Little did he know what would happen which will be a surprize till you read the rest.

As always Terry is always keeping a watchful eye and wants to help out those in need. In this story he does what he needs to make sure everyone is happy. My now 13 year old daughter and 9 year old grand daughter still love hearing books read and each liked the part where he is making a place for the Geese to Rest.

Check out Terrty Treetop and The Snow Goose which is avilable below.

Benghazi-Bergen-Belsen

Benghazi-Bergen-Belsen

One thing I love about being able to review books is being able to read them before they are available to everyone. Of course with this one I was more then a little bit behind on my reading so this review did not make it up before it's debut but this book was a good read.

This was a book about a different area of the world where I didn't know the Holocaust even touched. So even after years of reading and learning about this frame in time I am still surprised by how much I still have to discover.

This book takes you through a families life during the times of the Holocaust. Will their British Citizenship save them from harm or will the Nazi's not care? Will they get better care because of it or will they be treated worse? For that you will have to read this for yourself to see how this family if any survive the Holocaust.

Benghazi-Bergen-Belsen can be found on Amazon.

What the publisher has to say about Benghazi-Bergen-Belsen

An epic romance retrieves from oblivion the lost story of the Holocaust of North African Jews

Silvana Haggiag is a brilliant and beautiful young woman in her early twenties, dismissive of the patriarchal norms that govern her Jewish community in the Libyan city of Benghazi. When Silvana’s family is violently uprooted from its home and homeland, she is taken along with other Libyan Jews through the blazing Sahara Desert and war driven Italy to freezing Germany. In the long and tumultuous journey from her birth town to the German concentration camp of Bergen-Belsen, Silvana’s, navigating her family through horror and distress, she is confronted with dire dilemmas and retrieves hidden strengths. Away from her language, detached from any familiar ground, she is forced to cope with the terrors of a cruel and arbitrary humanity, and prevail.

A breathtaking novel based on profoundly detailed historical research
Benghazi-Bergen-Belzen, the first novel about the Holocaust of Libyan Jews, brilliantly depicts the transformations and tribulations this intriguing community has undergone during the Second World War. Violently uprooted from their autonomic lifestyle and thrown into a language, culture and geography completely foreign to their own, Libyan Jews, Like other Jews living among Arabic speaking Muslims, were doomed to profound detachment, cut off even from the new ways of life formed among the camps’ prisoners. Placed at the bottom of the Nazi race-hierarchy for their oriental origin, they were incomprehensible to the European eye and perceived as intimidating, even by their fellow European Jewish prisoners. The novel was chosen by the Israeli Ministry of Education to be included in the Holocaust studies program for high school students.

The Last Humans

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Last Humans
written by
Dima Zales

Recently I was able to read The Last Humans Trilogy written by Dima Zales. This is a set of science fiction books which takes place in the future where the planet is pretty much destroyed except for a small area where people live with no crime, swearing, illness or even death to worry about.

The parts are Oasis, Limbo, and Haven. Theo is the main character along with the voice in his head Phobe who he keeps to himself as he already deals with being just a bit different then everyone else. There are the Youths like Theo, the Adults, and the Elderly. You really have to read this fast past book but beware if you do not like to read profanity because it used through out the stories.

Take a little trip to what this author thinks that that the future could be like here on Earth for a science fiction ride of your life.

The Last Humans Trilogy can be found on Amazon.

For Better For Worse

For Better For Worse
written by
Rachel Semo Wool

Most people who met me, know I like to read about the Holocaust, WWII, and the like. For Better For Worse was no different. Even though this book does not revolve solely around WWII it does tell the memories of life from before WWI to present times. The ups and downs of life or should I say the For Better For Worse times.

All families struggle from time to time and this is a story that tell of those struggles as well as the hurdles they overcame. This book is a wonderful recollection of a family that seemed to be always one step ahead of the Nazi's which is amazin in itself. I admire people of this time for the things they had to do just to live. I hope you will read this story and remember life is full of For Better For Worse and we can overcome them with a little faith.

Bullying Prevention

Bullying Prevention

Bullying Prevention is a great resource for both younger and older parents of either the bully or those being bullied. I think this is a great book to get when your child is born so you can begin to ready them  and yourselves for what may lay ahead, or even stop them from becoming THE BULLY themselves.

Lots of ideas, thoughts, and scenarios that show what you could deal with and how to get around the system to get your child help. Personally I think kids have just gotten out of hand, but with how fast things change it is hard for everyone to keep up with the changes we are all faced with.

I find this a great resource that every library and school office should have available for parents.

Bullying Prevention can be found here. I also like that they have a fundraising option for schools or organizations that could benefit from this.

What Quick Find Books has to say about Bullying Prevention.

Written by three top experts in the field, this research-based book provides parents with key information about the causes of bullying and how to prevent it, at all age and grade levels. This book, while written for parents,  has also been used by many teachers and school administrators to better understand and  deal with  bullying, including cyber-bullying.
Topics covered include: Bullying: Myths, Facts and Solutions; Bullying in Preschool; Bullying in Elementary School; Adolescents and Bullying; Electronic or Cyber-bullying; Children Who Bully -- What to do at home; What Parents Can Do to Help a child Who Is Victimized; How Parents Can Work with the School; Bullying Prevention Through the Golden  Rule; and Resources for Parents.

Change Your Child`s Negative Behavior

MarksvilleandMe Reviews

Change Your Child`s Negative Behavior

written by
Nurit Levi

I have always found reading very calming and self help books along with parenting books a learning experience. Sure we might not take everything away from the book because our lives might not fit into that writer's mindset, but we often learn something new to try something that might just help out and make life better for us, our family, or friends. Making relationships stronger, helping our others and yourself to live a better everyday.

In Change Your Child`s Negative Behavior I am learning a few tricks if you will to help me better parent my ever head butting child into one that will see that being mean is not the way to treat others. Don't get me wrong when seeing her from the public's eye most of the time she will do the right thing, but she is growing and learning, and I want her to be well versed to stand up for herself without having someone point out her negatives.

I have had 6 children and helped raise many others and this one child of mine has given me a bit of a run for the money. Even though she reminds me everyday of her siblings she is still very different in temperament then they were. I love her to pieces but the negative behavior has to stop. This is where this book comes in to save the day, with advice, and tips to get us both through and strengthen our relationship so there is less argueing and more loving.

You can find Change Your Child`s Negative Behavior on Amazon.

In her series, A Calm and Peaceful Home, Nurit Levi has produced an essential set of guides for those responsible for children and teenagers, particularly when dealing with behavioural issues. Based upon her own experience - first as a parent and then as a coaching professional - she offers all-too-familiar examples, understanding, exceptional insight, moral support, practical advice and methods, useful tools and achievable assignments to help reduce disruptive behaviour in young people and replace it with positive cooperation. These straightforward guides will truly help you to deal with those situations that test you to the limit.
