Animal Alphabet Search
written by
John Priest

You can never have enough books readily available to your children. They are valuable to their learning as well as their skills in so many things as they grow. They need to learn how to find information they need, and it all starts with the Alphabet.

There are many books about the Alphabet this is not the first nor will it be the last but it is another book to build your children's learning level from the alphabet, numbers, and animals. This book engages your child to have fun while they are learning.

Awesome book and one my grand daughter loves for me to read over and over again. She can even recite some of the words from the pages from memory.

You can purchase Animal Alphabet Search on Amazon.

Incredible Dorka is originally written in Hungarian. This book is about a little girl whose father thinks she should start keeping a diary. She tries really hard to do things right but things just don't work out the way she would like, which lands her in trouble over and over again.

This book is very easy to relate to for all walks of life and one that fits my 12 year old to a tee. Reading time is always a fun time with my children and grand children. This is a book you can read and laugh along to right with the younger generation bridging the age gap.

You can purchase Incredible Dorka on Amazon.

What Hocmaa has to say about Incredible Dorka.
"Dad reckons I should write a diary, because so much happens to me. He says every day is full of surprises for me."
Well, Dorka is really creative and unique girl, and had to admit she had a talent for trouble. Her story could make anyone laugh.

A funny, charming and adorable story about a talented, kind and curious girl. The book is well suited to reading alone or reading aloud to children.

Get Well Before It Gets You

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Get Well Before It Gets You
written by
Lady Jenniviere

Get Well Before It Gets You is a good book that teaches about working together with others. Helping others and receiving help from time to time is needed in life even if you think you will not need or have never needed it before.

When people work together they can get more done then by doing it all by themselves. For my daughter who is 12 this is something we have been working on her with. We see so many children in their 20's that just don't understand the meaning of receiving help when needed and giving help when you can.

We want our children to grow up with a sense of community helping out and receiving help, that will last them a lifetime. If you would like your children to learn about this then this might be a book to help you with instilling that in your child as well.

You can purchase on Amazon.

Middle Grade adventure for ages 9-12
The book is intended to help show the importance of community and working together.

EVERYONE NEEDS A LITTLE HELP
Eddie Lambert is about to learn just how true that is.
Eddie Lambert has never needed help. He’s a star athlete, earns straight A’s in school and is president of his class. While playing soccer Eddie falls down a long abandoned well and breaks his leg. Little does Eddie know a broken leg is the least of his problems. His new cast gets tighter. Strange symbols suddenly appear and begin covering the cast with eerie hieroglyphics. Eddie and his best friend, Holly, are on a race against time to solve the mystery of the old well and the growing cast before it's too late. Will the two friends be enough to decipher the ancient Egyptian symbols carved long ago? Or will Eddie find himself mummified inside the ever-tightening grasp of his cast?

The Wisdom and Peace of the Teachings of the Tao Te Ching

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Wisdom and Peace of the Teachings of the Tao Te Ching
written by
Matthew Barnes

Most people are always trying to better themselves or even to find their true selves. This book and many other in the same category can help you do that. For me I just like to read and gain a closer walk with God.

This book really is the same chapter after chapter just said in a different way. Some people need to hear things over and over again in order to learn. Something will click and they will say I got, I understand now, etc.

Although this book never really refers to God or the like I find myself referring it to God because for me he is a big thing in my life. If you are interested in healing, moving forward, while learning this book may be for you.

You can purchase The Wisdom and Peace of the Teachings of the Tao Te Ching on Amazon

About Tao TeChing
The Tao Te Ching has been interpreted many times and by many authors. This translation is not a strict line-by-line translation, but is instead an attempt to express the SPIRIT of the Tao Te Ching- to present what Lao Tzu (the original author) was teaching in modern and simple language. As such, this translation becomes immediately applicable and relevant to people today. The Tao Te Ching is an ancient Chinese book of wisdom whose teachings can truly change your life, and how you see it.

In this translation, written by a long time Tao Te Ching enthusiast, is a modern, simplified interpretation that will show you, in plain language:

- What is really in charge of everything (and it’s not you).
- How the Tides of Life work and how to let them work for you.
- How to merge with Life instead of fighting fruitlessly against It.
- How to avoid suffering (it has to do with preferences and divisions).
- How to find your true home, carry it with you at all times, and stay safe within it.
- How to stay safe, no matter how hard the winds of Life **** around you.
- How to handle almost every situation Life throws at you.
- What real strength is and which kind endures.

Imagine a world where everything is planned out for you right from birth. Your name, what you wear, how you learn, when you eat, when you can go to the bathroom. Can it really be that easy? What is the catch? Is it really perfect?

Well you will have to find out by reading The Perfect World. I really hope to see more books or even a companion to The Perfect World.

Body Cognition: The Method

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Body Cognition - The Method
written by
Josepha Michaeli

First of all I am not nearly done reading this book yet. This is not a book you just hurry through and read. It is a book you want to absorb. For me this book is about understanding your body and finding the best way to work with how your body moves to make your body stronger. Everyone is unique so you have to adjust what you do to what your body can handle.

The way your body feels has a lot to do with your well being, getting to know your body gives you an insight in how to work with what your body has to offer and most of the time even improving both body and mind.

Body Cognition: The Method really makes sense and had enlightened me in so many ways. With each chapter I learn more and more about how the body moves,

Being a mother I have put my children first for many years and now have come to the point where my body has suffered so it is time to get my body and mind aligned so that I will be here for many more years to come. I suffer from Fibromyalgia and learning about my body is a very important aspect for me to be able understand.

My Dr. has been telling me for years to slow down, enjoy the time I have with my family, etc. I think he understood what my body was capable of more then I did, I always pushed my body past the breaking point. With a low immune system, blood disorder, and kidney problems if I felt good I did all I could do, then found myself down in bed sick.

As an adult with Fibromyalgia thrown on top of everything else I still find myself pushing myself on good days to get as much as I can done because I have fallen behind so much on things that needed to be done.

While I write this I am catching up on mountains of laundry, with mountains left to fold ( I know hard habits die hard). I am trying to pace myself but my mind says you can do this, you used to be able to do all of this and more in a few hours. Now this same task takes me days, more like weeks in reality. Same for doing dishes they never end.

If you are interested in learning more about your body and how it works and how to work with what you have this might just be the book you are looking for.

You can puchase Body Cognition" The Method on Amazon.

What Body Congniton: The Method has to say about their book.
Since the development of "Body Cognition" in the 1960s and 1970s, thousands of people have experienced it. However, when we ask: What is "Body Cognition", some of the answers are given in the negative form: this is not gymnastics in the usual sense; this is not a treatment for back pains only, and so on. How, then, can we define the "Body Cognition" method: education for a proper body movement? Training and preparing the body? Healthy gymnastics? These are titles which indicate several aspects of the method. The fundamental assumption of "Body Cognition" is that the right movement is beneficial to our physical and mental well-being and learning the right movement can considerably facilitate the solution of a long series of prevalent bodily problems.
The present book constitutes an ID of the method: an attempt to explain extensively, present reasons arguments and demonstrate its theoretical aspect as well as display its practical implementation. The description of bodily occurrences ranges from the unique and individual to the general, from the personal to the comprehension of the common as well as vice versa – from generalizations to the individual case. Each chapter illustrates the approach from a different perspective but all of them emphasize the method's principal and unique trait: observing solid and general anatomical facts and, based on them, understanding their practical implications for the physical conduct from a health starting point. Moreover, the book shows the way the method relates to issues not usually associated with movement: physical therapy, personal development, learning, thinking and behavior.
The order of the chapters invites a linear reading, evolving according to their structural logic, and enabling the reader to benefit from the support given by each chapter to those that follow it. However, each chapter can stand by itself and refers to the others as the need may arise. Thus, the book can be read in any order, browsing freely between the chapters.
The book is designed for two main reader groups. The first group comprises all those interested in their body and health and want to delve deeper into the body out of personal and intellectual inquisitiveness. The second consists of professionals dealing with all the body therapy disciplines. The chapter topics and level of thoroughness are adjusted to both groups. Hence, all readers can find in the book what they are looking for in accordance with their level of interest and depth.

Tales of Spook is one of several books that I have read in the Lady Jenniviere Quill series. I really like how these book make people think about why things might happen instead of blaming people or circumstances for problems.

I notice especially with girls that they can be quite mean to each other with no apparent reason other then to just be mean to each other. One day they are friends and the next day they hate each other. I didn't understand it when I was young and I still don't understand it. All I know is that it happens often.

This book deal with determination and one thing every child and adult needs in live to make it.

Isecas The Dream Cat: And The New School
written by
Preston Squire

Many children today and in the past have had to deal with a bully. Sometimes things work out and other times they do not. Isecas The Dream Cat: And The New School teaches children to look at the whole bully and not just the side that is being mean. Is there a reason for the other person to be mean.

Many times you can turn a bully around into a friend with a little work. This book also deals with not only being the kid in school but also the new kid who is learning how to speak the language where the new school is.

This is great and a book I will keep handy for when we make our move to another school.

You can purchase Isecas The Dream Cat: And The New School on Amazon.

What Preston Squire has to say about his book.

Mom's Journey: Practical Tips for Raising Kids

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Mom's Journey: Practical Tips for Raising Kids
written by
Limor Friedman

As a parent you are always wondering if you are doing things right so reading other parenting books and magazines give us insight on ideas we can try as well as those to stay clear from. With Mom's Journey: Practical Tips for Raising Kids it is no different, this book was written by a mom for other parents, she wanted to share what worked and didn't work for her while raising her children.

I can't lie and say I agreed with all of her tactics but she does raise valid points on other issues, and some that we have already implemented in our years of raising children, on our own. You pick what will work for your family and child. No one but you as the parent can make the decision on what is right or wrong in raising your children. Everyone has their own way of doing things even if some are just like other parents out there.

As parents we are to love unconditionally and raise our children to be able to take care of themselves one day. It doesn't happen over night but over a lifetime of being a parent.
