Stolen Generation

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Stolen Generation
written by
Shari McGriff

Stolen Generation is a no nonsense writers view on past and present Stolen Generations. Very vivid and very real. Be prepared for a very short but very intense story from the past to the present bringing to life what has happened over and over again, generation after generation.

Man has still not learned that their decisions change the world in more ways then one. Life is life, if you take a life it is murder, no matter what the circumstances.

You can purchase Stolen Generation on Amazon.

A Short Story

A life taken; a life preserved. Who decides the outcome of a child born to poverty, slavery, or simply the wrong skin tone or ethnic descent? At our core beats a heart, bestowing the gift of life, but who has the right to determine how that life should be lived?
Come with writer, Shari McGriff, on a powerful journey from modern day, back in time, to turn-of-the century Australia. A small child is chased down a dust-filled street and ripped from his mother’s arms. “Dust-to-dust”, they say, “when we pass from one life to the next.”
Vignettes explored, take the reader on The Trail of Tears, to the farms of wealthy landowners and the gas chambers of Nazi Germany. Families, decimated by greed and lust for power, stare at one another through tear-soaked eyes and a veil of forgetfulness. These are generations robbed of everything: their heritage, past and future, their family ties, and even their names.
Surely, today things are different, more humane and civil. There is no longer a kill the Indian, save the child mentality, or is there? The poor, the uneducated, and the inconvenient are victimized, as in days past. We are all human. Are we perpetrating our own stolen generation?
Deeply moving and forcefully conveyed, this is a short story that will impact the way you look at love, life, and the need to embrace the human family. Free your mind from all earthly cares and spend a few precious minutes in the soul of a child, desperate to share the joys, and sorrows that are our existence.

The Lost Bible

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Lost Bible
written by
L. Rosenman

Looking for a religious, romance, adventure story? Then look no further then The Lost Bible by L. Rosenman. I am not a big Romance reader but I don't mind if there is enough adventure in it, and since this included history mixed with fiction it made it that much more enjoyable.

Even though I am a Christian myself I still enjoy lots of different genres of books. I have always been an avid reader and the only thing that has slowed me down over the years has been time with my family, which as always comes over reading.

You can purchase The Lost Bible on Amazon.

Book Description :
"What would you say if you suddenly received a mysterious phone call from someone telling you that there weren’t forty-eight of Gutenberg’s books, but forty-nine?”

Hannah, a green-eyed beauty, finds herself in mid-life with no husband, no work, and no clear direction. Following a promising ad, she joins an enthusiastic professor on a perilous search for a lost copy of the Gutenberg Bible, last seen in the 16th century. To succeed where others failed, they must decipher ancient encrypted texts, enter monasteries and torture cellars - and avoid dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to lay their hands on this priceless antiquity. But then they are forced to face an even greater challenge...

This suspenseful romance reveals an ancient love that drowned in blood 500 years ago, yet has endured to this day.

Sky2 - Detritus Machine

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Sky 2 Detritus Machine
written by
William Amerman

As I said with Sky and Sky3 I finally read them in order and what a difference it made in the story line, much better then the first time out of order. Sky 2 Detritus Machine will take you back and show you just what the government is capable of in this post apocalyptic world story.

I hope they decide to make this into a movie that would be very interesting to see.

You can purchase Sky 2 Detritus Machine on Smashwords or Amazon.

The Sky series continues.

Ten years before the events of Sky1, Nick embarks on the assignment of a lifetime, descending deep within the World to Ground 42, the city of Muldoin. In this city, personal space is shockingly restricted and scarcity governs all aspects of life.

Nick's job is to investigate recent government policies that are more brutal than any the world has seen. Then, people start showing up. People who don't belong there. Men who wish only to perpetrate violence on the repressed population. A woman searches for a life without killing while the city aches for release, shuddering with anticipation of open rebellion.

This is the legend of Muldoin, the story of Nick and Anna.

A sample of one of the pages are below.

It's the first day of a new school year for Emily, a trainee witch. After a hasty breakfast she rushes to her room to get dressed. After all, she doesn't want to be late on day one! And her witch's hat is simply missing in action. Despite these delays, can she figure out the 'Get Dressed' spell and still make it to school on time?

The Chosen

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Chosen Book 1
written by
Shlomo Kalo

If you happen to like the story of Daniel in the Bible then you might like this book. The Chosen looks into the life of Daniel from a child. I enjoyed as a child and now as an adult the books of the Bible but it is nice for someone else to put it all together into a story, that you can read in one sitting instead of having to bounce around in the Bible.

For those of you who haven't read the Bible or those interested in the life of Daniel this would be the book for you.

You can purchase the Chosen on Amazon.

Book Description:
An Epic Novel Based on the Biblical story of Daniel
Separated from his family, his homeland and his childhood sweetheart, Daniel, a Judean youth of noble lineage, is exiled to Babylon, where his captors hope to use his talents at the Royal court.
What will eventually become of the youth - as he is subjected to grueling trials and tests - neither he nor his captors can even imagine...
Shlomo Kalo’s masterpiece of Biblical literature, THE CHOSEN, is being republished in three volumes. Kalo, one of the most prolific writers in Israel and a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature, brings to new life the themes and spirit of the Biblical story of Daniel in this lively, dramatic epic novel. His masterwork of storytelling weaves together the themes of faith, friendship, betrayal, love stronger than death, and redemption.
˃˃˃ The first installment, Book 1 THE YOUTH
In THE YOUTH, Daniel and three friends are among those forcibly sent to Babylon to serve in court after the conquest of Jerusalem by the armies of Nebuchadnezzar. The long and tortuous journey from Jerusalem to Babylon is filled with danger, as well as reminiscences of his love since childhood, Nejeen, and his slain father, Prince Naimel.
Once in Babylon, the youths are educated in their roles in service of the King, learning the Chaldean language and the ways of the court. Daniel passes an early test, refusing to partake of non-kosher meat and wine, being allowed to eat what is their diet for ten days.
Daniel’s powers of prayer and healing, along with his excellence in studies and horseback riding, gain him great supporters in court, as well as jealousy and hostility from others in Babylon, leading to the first attempt on his life by his own compatriots.

Reading books to my children and grand children is something I enjoy. As my children grow they read more to me which is a blessing in itself. I enjoy hearing how far they have come in their reading achievement.

I like Suzy Liebermann's style of writing to help children learn about how to deal with things that come up during life.

As parent we try to teach our children how to survive and succeed in society but we can't always teach them everything. This is where books and stories come into play. They can help up teach our children things that might not happen when they are little.

Luckily my children have no problem keeping up with either so our lives are have been filled with active imaginative children. One place children can get some ideas for imagination fun from are from books like Barnaby Bellows the Big Blue Bear.

The pictures and story were great for little children with big imaginations. Are you ready to use yours? Take it easy this summer and let your child's imagination soar.

Barnaby Bellows is a book about falling in love with your imagination. Through Barnaby Bellow's different adventures he shows the reader that with a little creativity and fun that anything you want to be is just an idea away. You will be taken from the forest on a whimsical journey. This is where you will become a Zookeeper, a Magician, and a Fireman, among other characters that Barnaby imagines with his readers. Life lessons are learned, laughter ensues, and a sense of pretend is painted through the different scenarios that Barnaby Bellows leads the readers through. For readers young and old this is an exercise in imagination, and the sole reason the author wrote this fanciful and sing-songy book. So open up the book and join in on the fun, because with Barnaby Bellows the land of pretend is the best place to be, and you are always number one!

Gatekeepers Trilogy

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Gatekeepers Trilogy
written by
Eva Pohler

The Gatekeepers Trilogy is a story about modern day mythology, with some romance and magic thrown in. These books were easy to read while being hard to put down because they kept your attention. I really love books that pull  you in and paint a world that you are part of.

Greek Mythology is one of my favorite subjects and this series really did a good job of combining the Greek gods we have learned about with modern day society. Every Time a new mythology creature was introduced I was excited to read how they were included in the story.

When you are done with the Trilogy you can set your eyes on part 4, 5, and 6, which I have yet to read but hope to in the near future.

You can purchase the Gatekeepers Trilogy on Amazon.

Sky 3

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Sky 3 Emerald Mara
written by
William Amerman

Sky 3 even though called Sky 3 is really part 2 which is why I am now reading Sky 2 which is actually part one, not sure why the author wrote them out of order but they make so much more sense when read in order. I was a little confused but still enjoyed them out of order, but they are just a better read in order.

I can not give an accurate review for Sky 3 until I am done with Sky 2 so I will return and do a updated review once I have finished the book.

You can purchase Sky 3 on Amazon.

The legend of Muldoin continues. Nick and Anna struggle to save Ground 42 from exploding in civil war. Anna's father either has murdered five scientists or has been framed for it. The Special Police colonel responsible for the uprising has lost access to his anti-psych meds. Two brothers show up to lead Nick and Anna to areas of the World kept secret for centuries. And Detritus Machine, the most fearsome Deformer in the history of the Deformer Corps, wreaks absolute destruction on everything that stands between himself and the object of his fury.

Sky3, Emerald Mara, extends the story of an enormous, self-contained World that was constructed over seven hundred years in the past. The World houses over eighty million people who have no knowledge of what, if anything, exists outside the walls. Until one of them finds out.

Please note that the chronological story order for the Sky series is Sky2, Sky3, Sky1 and the soon-to-be-published Sky4
