The Moon Was My Witness Review

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Moon Was My Witness
the Jewish boy who sabotaged the SS commander's motorcycle
written by
Abraham Levy

Having always said that stories, movies, etc about the Holocaust have been my favorite, I have changed my wording to fascination with the subject rather then favorite. Not sure if sounds better, but thought it fit better.

Even though this book is called the Jewish boy who sabotaged the SS commander's motorcycle, I believe that the title "The Moon Was My Witness" fits much better. Don't get overly excited about a story revolving around the SS commander's motorcycle because that is a very small part in this book about Abraham's fight to live through the Holocaust.

This will take you on a journey through his memories of his family, life as child, life in the camps during the Holocaust as well as a brief glimpse into his life 60 years after Liberation. What I find the same in most of the surviving camp Holocaust people is their will to survive from the very beginning. A force that kept them moving forward no matter how hard things got.

I speak all of the time about how God gives me breath each day but the stories of the Holocaust survivors always reminds me that life can always be worse, the stories also give me hope and strength to continue on my own journey through life, no matter what is thrown my way. The suffering of those from the holocaust is a constant reminder of the strength of the humane soul

As with many books with this subject matter I read this in one sitting in only a few hours. A page turner for sure, filled with lots of information. The life the Holocaust victims and survivors has is something everyone needs to remember so that it will never happen again.

You can purchase "The Moon Was My Witness" on Amazon.

Stewart® Pro-Treat® Freeze Dried Blends Review

Our Saint Bernard Princess Goliath was recently able to try out Stewart Pro-treat blend dog treats in Natural Beef Blend. From my other post you know my Princess doesn't like too many treats but I am beginning to realize she just doesn't like treats from regular retailers, she has a more refined taste for the good stuff.

She gobbled these up as fast as we could give them to her, but she did share with the kitties who came running as soon as I opened the bucket up. Matter of fact we found the bucket tipped over and all of the treats gone. I am thinking the kitties knocked it over and they all had a treat while Mommy and Daddy were sleeping.

You can purchase these treats as well as other treats and products for the other pets in your life here.

Julienne Peeler & Vegetable Peeler Review

Even though I have been married for 24+ years and a mother for almost the same amount of time, this is my first ever Julienne Peeler. I remember watching cooking shows and saying boy I wish I could do that. I don't have the patience to do it by hand, and in case you didn't catch in my other posts, I am susceptible to cuts so I try to keep away from knives as much as possible.

Yes I have cut myself with a peeler before and it is no fun. This peeler has two sides so I have to be extra careful, but I love the results so this is one of my kitchen favorites. Julienne has become a new word in our kitchen.

I love that this peeler can Julienne or just plain peel. It alo has little loops on the sides so you can dig out eyes or stems. This is an all in one peeler, Three times the peeler or rolled into one neat gadget.

The only thing I can see that would make this better would be a rubber grip to make it non slip while peeler. Even though I don't hang my gadgets this does have a closed loop end which you can hang if that is what you do.

You can purchase the  Julienne Peeler and Vegetable Peeler on Amazon.

Coosh [Apple MFi Certified] Lightning to USB Cable 3ft / 1m for iPhone (Black) Review

Not available until March but I am glad I was able to give this a whirl before many others. One thing my girls burn through more then anything else is their sync/charge cable for their Apple products. Matter of fact mine has already disappeared and of course no one touched it. Since mine has always been in the same place to charge someone touched it but no one is giving up who did it.

From now on we are going to put names on the cords, hoping that will help. What is great about the Coosh sync/ charge cable with lightning connector, is that it is Apple certified so there won't be any problems using it with your devices. This is a one meter cord which is a smidge over 3 feet. Plenty of room for most people to be able to use with their iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

In March you will be able to purchase this on Amazon.

The Hunt Review

MarksvilleandMe reviews The Hunt
written by Sophia Grace

Anyone who knows me should know by now that my favorite Genre of story is from the Holocaust or World War II.  From page one The Hunt was a page turner, which I read in one sitting in under an hour. Yes that good at least for me.

It is an easy read, and one a young adult could read with no problem. If they can read Holocaust Biographies then they can handle this book. Frank is a man who had an ordinary life until one day while at a coffee shop he hears a conversation that will change his life. Full of secrets, underground groups, mystery, and death, this book will keep you reading.

You can purchase the Hunt on Amazon.
