Getting Ready to Homeschool

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

With everything that is going on in the world and our wake up call when the kids went remote that the school was not doing them justice. I won't go on about how far behind they are from other students or that they are were being asked to do work when they couldn't do the work leading up to that work, so they felt  defeated everyday because they just didn't understand how to do the work. Yes my oldest child graduated by the skin of her teeth but that is a whole other story for another time.

Right now is where we are at. My now 13 year old daughter Dorothy has been asking to be homeschooled for a few years now and after what we have seen, we decided to take our cue from her seriously and take the plunge again. We have homeschooled before and enjoyed it. Looking back I wish we had homeschooled all six of our children right from the get go. With that being said he we beginning our journey into Homeschooling once more this coming fall.

We ordered our learning curriculum which has arrived (our state has strict guidelines to follow) and now we are looking at school supplies that will work with our families needs. We know we didn't really need a lot so we are just filling in around what we already have available in our home.

Since my daughter is entering 9th grade and with my health some of the days will be spent traveling or even at her sister's house we went with a system that would allow her to take her basic school needs with her where ever she might be learning on any particular day.

One of the big items we provided for her was a computer for home use, a microscope which will be coming in soon, and this ZIPIT'N'GO Organizer which will hold all of her books she is working on. We went with a system that has smaller workbooks that can be changed out as the year progresses, so they fit perfectly into the acordain file system that is built into this binder.

What I love most about this case is that once closed it zips up so nothing will be lost when in transit from place to place. There is a front pouch for holding pens, pencils, calculator, etc. A 3 ring spot for regular folders, dividers, paper, etc. A nice flap on the back where you can keep a flat pad of paper or store other projects. It has lots of different pockets built in to store pretty much everything you would need for a day of learning.

There is also a detachable strap for the binder so you can carry it with you and have your hands free for
other tasks. You can also use the handle to carry it, or use the the tried and true in your the crook of your arm hold. Either way you are sure to be organized and ready for the day. What I love most is that it has a lifetime warranty which means they really stand behind their products.

We have had many ZIPIT products over the years and we have yet to have one fail us, now it is our turn to try out this and put it the test. Make sure to check back with us at the end of the school year to see how it held up. Find the ZIPIT'N'GO Organizer at Walmart

This Little Piggy goes to the Beach

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

I am a big sucker for farm animals, but pigs are probably my favorite. So when I saw this cute pig beach pail I just had to get it for my grandchildren to play with. I didn't catch that the pig had a pour spout through his nose, that makes this so much more cute. I really like that this set can be used for water or tub play as well with all of the pour spouts build into the pieces.

The chunky handles on the rake and shovel are really nice for small hands but also fit well into an adults hands so both parents and children can play together. I should mention that the pig pail is a bit flexible too which makes it safe with no jagged edges.  I love the going to the beach and this would be so fun to play with in the sand and easy to find your pail with it being a pig.

Another use for this would be in the snow although I am not a big advocate for playing in the snow other then for building a snowman, but the choice is there for those who would enjoy it. This would make an awesom basket filler or just a gift all on its own. Check out this eight piece set at Amazon

The Cutest Thing Ever

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

Do you ever just stumble upon Something that tickles you pink? Well I do and sometimes those things just need to bought. That is what I felt when this I found this cute bike accessory. It is just so stinking cute. I couldn't resist. I know my daughter loves it too. Even though it feels like it has been raining forever, she couldn't wait for the first sunny day to put it on her bike and show it off a bit. The rubber duck was easy to strap to her bike and the color we chose really pops with the color of her bike. Now she has a trusty friends to go along with her while biking around our neighborhood.

Now tell me this isn’t the cutest bike accessory ever. He squeaks and lights up. He can have his helmet up or down and even comes with an optional gun. Ok so they had me at rubber ducky. Sometimes I am just pulled in for the sale on sheer cuteness or originality, and I think this hits both. They have six different helmet covers to pick from so you can match it up with your bike colors. It also comes with adhesive so you can attach it to the dashboard in your vehicle. Who doesn't need a little sidekick to bring some joy to their lives? I think this is whimsical and affordable. Bring a little cuteness into someone's life.

Great for gift giving, bringing someone cheer, or just as a fun gift to surprise someone with. Coming from a first person shooter game family we find this has cuteness overload.

Perfect for Playing in the Sand

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here

Summer is just around the corner and Sand box season has already begun. As a mom and grandmother I love sand and water toys, so finding this cute 7 piece seemed like the perfect gift for my grandchildren. Even though this toy will be for them to take home to enjoy I am feeling good about this item. It is made from flexible food grade polypropylene, is non toxic, and eco friendly.

Over the 30 years of being a parent and child care giver I have seen many toys come and go in our home. Some had staying power and some were here just for a season, or gone in a very short time. We have many favorites that stood the test of time and we have even replaced once worn out because of how good they were.

For sand toys for instance many times they start off all bright colored and end up fading to a muted color of their orginal self. This set has a sort of aged look to them that I really like. Of course I don't know for sure but I don't see these fading like other toys on the market, and I am excited to see how they fair over the years.

If you are interested in them check them out below.

One Summer Activity I know the girls are going to love.

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

With summer coming and our family not being comfortable with everything opening up yet as well as the news we will be having our granddaughter most of the summer, I needed to come up with some activities to keep the girls busy in between when they run out of ideas. This girl’s creator braiding bracelet kit is one of the many awesome items we picked out. My daughter gave it a whirl today so we can make sure we know how to use it when the time comes.

Her results were OK for the first time using it. We didn't finish it off with the cutting or glue due to the fact she wants to practice to get better at it. My daughter is 13 and really needed a lot of help with this at first but once I showed her two rounds she was able to do the rest on her own. Like I said she wants to practice a bit more to get the string tighter and neater for the finnished look.

She did say that this will be a good item to use during the summer with my 10 year old granddaughter and I am sure a few of her friends.

The kit does say it makes up to 12 bracelets. With that being said this one took took two strings which leaves just enough to make 10 bracelets if you only use one color per bracelet so keep that in mind and maybe pick up some extra elastics and string. I see these being made with embroidery floss, paracord rope, yarn, and other simular strings which we have on hand and can be picked up easily at your local craft store or on Amazon.

We love that this came with a bag so everything can be stored inside and grabbed at a moments notice for some bracelet making fun. I personally see this being used for years to come as long as I can continue to provide the elastics and string. Sadly right now there were no refill kits but maybe in the future they will have those available.

Here is a picture of everything you get in the kit.

Getting things back in order

*This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

Since we have settled in our apartment, we have been slowly replacing furniture from all of the stuff that was lost or left behind before we became homeless due to my husband's accident. Most we have gotten free along side the road, like this desk from when our new neighbors moved and had this out for free. We snatched it up quickly but it has been sitting in our bedroom with things stacked on top of  it for sometime.

Well the time has come to turn the desk  back into a useful piece of furniture and get more organized. With this being said I like to have a base for my computer so what when I move it around I don't scratch up the surface of my desk. I was able to find this 33'x14' PU Leather desk mat at Amazon. I had to look up PU Leather to find out what it meant as I had always heard it said but had never really knew what it was. Searching on the internet for things can sure be interesting to say the least.

My desk still has a long way to go. The pictures were actually taken with my husband's laptop which is 15.6' as opposed to mine of a different brand but same size for those wondering how their computer may look on it. I will of course be adding my sorting baskets, stapler, etc to this desk to get the look I want to achieve and then it is all business, or lately mostly teaching school work, but that is a whole different kind of conversation.

Easter Basket Idea for Toddlers

Today I am talking about this set of toddler puzzles you see above. Isn't the lady bug puzzle adorable?  My grandsons are still quite young so these will be going into my oldest grandson's Easter basket this year with a few small treats. In a few years his little brother will be able to play with them too. He loves back packs so I was really excited to see that this set of 4 puzzles comes with a little draw string back pack so they can be toted along for fun on the go.

My suggestion once opened as long as you are keeping an eye on your child is to put the puzzle pieces to each puzzle in a zip bag so when playtime is open you can hand the board and pieces and they can put the puzzle together and not worry about mixed up pieces. Also as they get quicker at doing the puzzles you can add two puzzles and their pieces to make it a bit harder and keep adding till they have all four empty puzzles, as well as all of the pieces to challenge them even more.

These are rated for children three years of age, but my son who is my grand sons father was doing 25 piece puzzles by the time he was 18 months old, so depending on my grandson who seems to be following in his footsteps these may be too easy. I always say go with caution. A parent knows their child best, if using with younger children make sure to be watchful and not leave your child alone while playing with small toys.

Each puzzle board is 5.8 inches by 5.8 inches. Perfect for toddlers and a great gift idea.

Check them out at Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Hamilton Mills Coffee Pumpkin Spice Review

I have never been a big coffee drinker but as I have aged I have learned to love a few and I always like to try those that come my way like this Pumpkin Spice flavored Coffee from Hamilton Mills. I tried this right away with some buttered toast. I just added cream and sugar to the coffee and dipped my toast like I did as a child into my mothers coffee.

I find that I like flavored coffees more then other coffee's but with all of the flavored creams on the market you can easily change up your coffee so that you can have something new often. I think this would be an awesome coffee for cool fall mornings, or served  with or without your favorite pumpkin dessert.

I am sure our guests will enjoy this while visiting as well. I know I would love to have my friend Tina over to try this. Tina loves Pumpkin Spice. Tina if you are reading this I am thinking of you. As for the rest of my friends, family, and readers I hope you will let me know if you try this or what your favorite coffee flavor is in the comments below.

With Pumpkin Spice being so big I have no clue why they haven't made it available all year round, so I guess for those who are in love they must stock up when it comes around to get them to the next year so they never have to stop enjoying their favorite flavor of coffee.

If you would like to try Hamilton Mills Coffee Pumpkin Spice for yourself check out the link below or enter my giveaway here. Giveaway ends 10/31/2019 12:00 am Eastern. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Brooklyn Bean Roastery Pink Pumpkin Coffee Review

Have you ever seen a pink pumpkin? If not you can at least try Pink Pumpkin Vanilla flavored coffee from Brooklyn Bean Roastery. Made from 100% Arabica Coffee Beans. Our family was able to try the Pink Pumpkin Vanilla Flavored Coffee recently and there were mixed reviews from alright to I love this can I take some to school.

We all enjoyed our coffee differently. Mine with 2 sugars and a cream, my daughter had hers with 2 big spoons of sugar and milk. My husband enjoyed his with 3 equals and cream. I can't wait to share this with our company as they visit for their reactions.

I know a lot of pumpkin coffee lovers out there so it is always nice to hear their reactions to the coffee as well as how they like it served. To this day I remember how my parents took their coffee, but for the life of me can never remember how my husband or anyone else takes there without asking over and over again.

I like that this coffee is not overly Pumpkin Flavored and is not too sweet. The Vanilla flavor is really nice and adds to the overall flavor without adding to or taking away. Perfect for the crisp fall mornings or for after dinner alone or served with a sweet treat.

If you would like to try this coffee for your self you can find it at the link below or you can enter my giveaway sponsored by Brooklyn Bean Roastery here. Giveaway closes on 10/31/2019 12:00 am Eastern. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Glasses for just a $1.00

Did you loose or break your glasses? Do you need a second pair but don't want to spend a fortune? Do you want glasses or sunglasses that are fashionable? I think I have the place for you to find your next new pair of glasses for an affordable price. Firmoo eye wear store.

To make an order was simple. I just picked out the frames I would like, added in my prescription (you must get this from your eye Dr. and measured the space between my pupils mine happens to be 57mm. The first pair I picked I was told that because of my pupil spacing they would not work for me to pick a different pair. This was awesome. It kept me from getting glasses that would not fit me or take care of my vision properly.

Once added to cart you can pick from lenses (some will cost more so the price might be higher then 1.00 if you choose some of these options) I went with all of the free items and I was completely surprised to see that I only paid a 1.00 total. So awesome.

Even if you aren't able to order for the $1.00 before the deal ends. Frames and lenses are so affordable that even our family with a strict tight budget can get a pair if a set is lost, broken, or we need a pair of prescription sunglasses. yes you heard that right prescription sunglasses. They have fashionable choice for Men, Women, and Children.

I was so impressed by the children's selection that if my youngest needs a pair of glasses I will sure to pick up an extra pair here for her. Our insurance does glasses but if they break you have to wait 2 years before you can get another pair payed for by the insurance company. I am really impressed with all of the little extras they send you like the hard case to store them in, a bag, eyeglass repair kit, and of course the lens cloth which is not pictured but can be seen at my video review here.

If you are interested or know someone who needs a new pair, replacement pair please mention this deal to them.

The deal ends on September 30th, 2019 use code 1usdec to get your first pair for 1.00.

Remove Makeup with no Chemicals

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

I am always trying to replace chemical items with non chemical items when ever I find a good product. My daughter has been asking for one of these micro fiber makeup remover cloths for quite a while. I am glad I was finally able to get her one and one for myself.

What I love about this is that it is reusable over and over again. This is microfiber so I suggest washing in a laundry bag and hanging to dry to keep it in tip to shape. I can't compare them to other brands because this is the first we have had but so far they have worked well for us.

If you are interested you can get this 2 pack set below.

Zesty Paws is Paw Licken Good

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy here.

Our kitty Steve really loves his treats so when I was able to try Zesty Paws Select Essentials Freeze Dried Raw Treats I jumped at the chance to give Steve something new.  As you can see by the below pictures he enjoyed it so much I couldn't even get a picture in before he wanted to try a few.

What I love about this product is that there is only one ingredient. Raw Chicken, so even though it looks cooked after being freeze dried and is human grade, remember it is raw. I also like that this is GMO Free, and can be used for both cats or dogs. My kitty likes it as a treat but you can also use it as a topper on their dry or wet food to give them a new spin on an old favorite.

Road Trip Anyone?

Sponsored

Going on a Road trip can be lots of fun, but not always for the little ones who will be seated for long periods of time in between all of the exciting places they will see. Having items on hand that keep them busy, happy, and excited about what is ahead is a great idea. Treats, road games, music, videos, and books like this one from i See Me. My U.S.A. Road Trip book is just the right thing to break out just before the trip to show all of the wonderful places you might see.

The i See Me My U.S.A. Road Trip is a personalized book which makes it super special to the child or children receiving it. Filled with pages about each state and of course pictures of the child and their name throughout the book. The book alone gives a great way to pass the time by counting how many times they see their picture, their name, or even a place they are visiting. Not to mention the learning aspect of it. Learning is always best when it is fun and can be applied to real life events.

If your trip is already planned and the places are in this book you can mark those areas with a sticky note or flag so the child knows this is a stop during the trip. The map which you can choose to add on if you wish is a scratch off map so they can scratch off which states they have been too. I know when my daughter received hers she got really excited because she will be traveling to two brand new states when she goes off to camp, that I haven't even been too yet, and they were in this book so it made it more real to her.

My U.S.A. Road Trip is a uniquely personalized storybook adventure that teaches children about state names and monuments. In the book, the child receives a personalized driver's license, hops in a magical car, and drives across America to visit each US state. An entire spread is dedicated to the child's home state, with fun facts about the state bird and state flower! The book can be personalized with a child's name, gender, skin tone, hair color, birthdate, and home state. It can also be photo personalized--upload a photo of your child's face, to be incorporated into the main character. This book introduces basic US geography to young children, and encourages curious minds to explore and discover.

The i See Me My U.S.A Road Trip book can be found here by itself or here with a scratch off Map as well.
