Autism & Special Needs Music DVD and CD

I have two daughters who are in a contained classroom setting even though they do all specials with the mainstream children they are in classrooms with children of varying ages and learning disabilities.

I have worked with children since I was about 12 years old. Over the years I have taken care of children with learning disabilities as well as children with other issues such as coming from a broken home, single working parents trying to do the best they could for their children, and some with problems that needed specialists to help them throughout their lives.

Each of them holds a special place in my heart, memory, and even in my daily life because all those years later some of them still keep in touch with me. I love seeing their children, and how well they are doing in life. Their struggles, ups, downs, and all the way I know I was a part of their lives even if just for a short while.

I found out long ago that the best way to get children of varying ages ands learning curves to work together is by including music as well as  art into everyday schedules. I believe it evens the field out because music has so many aspects from humming, rocking, singing, dancing, swaying, playing instruments etc, that there is something for everyone. You can hear music, feel music, and move to music.

Perfect for those who have learning disabilities and has been proven to help those who have music in their lives to do better in everyday situations from learning, relationships, and temperament. Even though this is slotted for Special Needs and Autism it can also be use in a home setting, professional setting, and even classrooms.

Bring a classroom of children together through music or just work one on one with any child to see a difference take shape right in front of your eyes.

You can find the Autism & Special Needs Music DVD and CD on Amazon.

Tattoos for Everyone

Looking for a fun new way to let your little ones try out some tattoo's? This might be a new option for you if you have a few extra minutes to help them out. They an take the templates and make their own creations. So many colors to choose from each tattoo will be unique to them because they make them.

Yes it is OK if the adults want to try on a few too, we won't tell. Great for sleepovers, teen parties, family get togethers, etc.

I love that it came with so many pieces, there is sure to be something for everyone. Enough supplies to make many tattoos. My 12 year old was able to do this on her own while my 7 year old needed a bit of help to remember the steps. Results were better than I expected which means no unhappy children.

Lost my Marbles

I played marbles as a child, along with jacks and other quite games. I wanted my children to learn these games and have as much fun as I did. I had purchased two sets of marbles for the girls during the Holidays but wanted my own set. Finding these marbles was really nice as I now had my own set.

My husband even got into playing with the girls. Of course I keep mine picked up a bit better then them but they are learning and pretty soon they will be able to play on their own without talking them through each move.

The girls liked that mine came with a nice pouch which theirs did not. Great for hand eye coordination, strategy, and sharing.

Learn how to play Marbles here.

You can purchase these marbles on Amazon.

Making Cinderella

In case you haven't realized Halloween is just a hop skip and away from being front and center. The stores are setting up their merchandise, some people have even already started to decorate. For our family the kids are picking out what they want to be. Sure I have lots of ideas what I would like them to be for Halloween, but it really comes down to what they want to be.

MarksvilleandMe joined with Costume Supercenter to bring you a great idea. Instead of running out and trying to find everything you need for your costume in the stores, wasting precious gas, resources, as well as time, you can sit in the comfort of your own home and shop when it is convenient for your family.

Costume shopping 101

1. Ask your child what they would like to be.
2. Shoot out some ideas of your own.
3. Decide on what they will be.
4. Decide how much you can spend.
5. Look in your own inventory for products you might already have.
6. Sit back bring up Costume Supercenter and start browsing.

My 7 year old Dorothy settled on being Cinderella from the Wedding. We have the Tiara (borrowed from my older 12 year old Princess Deanna) and the shoes. All we needed was the dress.

Once it came in she couldn't wait to give it a whirl. This dress is super nice by the way. I would even let her wear this to a special outing because it just is that nice.

Even though she wears a size 8 in girls clothes I always order costumes a size bigger so we went with the 10-12 size. A little extra room so she can get more than one wear out of it.

All of my children have loved to play dress up so we have lots of props for different kinds of play. Imagination is something I love to instill in my children and their love for creating just fills my heart with cheer. Often when the girls aren't playing Princess, you will find them fighting crime and evil by being fully dressed in Superhero Costumes. In case you are wondering Costume Supercenter has those too check the Superheroes section out.

Yes your majesty I would be honored to dance with you.

Looking to make someone Cinderella? You can find some great costumes at Costume Supercenter. They have costumes for young and old alike.

Loving the Rainforest

We are not new to Click-A-Brick. Matter of fact they have become a new favorite. My favorite creation from the Rain Forest series is the Snake.

Our children love to mix and match the colors from the different sets to make even more colorful creations.

Some of my favorites are the dinosaur our daughter made as well as the replica of our family.

As a parent I like toys that are both fun and educational.

You can find the Rainforest Click-A-Brick on Amazon.

What Click-A-Brick has to say about their product.
The Click-A-Brick Rainforest Rascals set is an educational building block set for children aged 4 and up. What makes this product unique is the way the blocks connect to each other. Rather than connecting in just one way, Click-A-Brick's can be connected from all sides and corners; even forming diagonal lines.

This way of building helps children improve motor and dexterity skills as well as their spatial reasoning. The Dino Pals set comes with instructions on how to build an Iguana. The other rascals - Snake, Frog, Cameleon, Turtle - are pictured on the instruction sheet. There are no directions on how to build those because they are supposed to challenge the child to create them on their own after they learn how to make the Iguana. Parental interaction is highly encouraged to better facilitate learning - not to mention some great 1-on-1 time with your child.

Click-A-Brick also helps nurture a child's imagination and creativity by allowing them to build anything they can think of - in 3D. Many different shapes and creations can be made, spurring the child's imagination further with each one. The product is very durable as well; where the child can actually play with the creation they made - or quickly disassemble it to make another.

Creative good fun

Our children love the Click-A-Brick Building blocks. This is our third set and each time they are able to build what is suggested as well as adding to their brick collection to make other creations.

These are the kind of toys I like to see my children playing with. Something they create with their own minds, or even by following directions. Both are learning opportunities for your children.

Love the colors and how many ways the pieces can be put together. I am always happy to see what they have made.

When the pool is closed

Here in Ny after Labor day the outdoor pool is closed so how do our kids cool off? With water guns of course. One of my favorite ways to stay cool even being 43. Of course now I can't run after the kids but I can sit and wait for them to run by to get them with mine.

I found this water gun to be a little heavy in the back but it did shoot well, and soon became a new favorite in our home. We haven't had a new water gun in a long time. We had a huge set we bought years ago with enough for my whole childcare so I think we had around 15 of the same gun. Sadly 13 years later we were down to our last one and didn't even know where to start to look for a new set of water guns.

Even though I like this one it is a bit awkward for my 7 year old daughter and granddaughter so the search is still on for the perfect family water gun that is comfortable for both children and adults. Until then this one is mine. Ok back to the game.

GAME ON!

Maker Studio: Gears Set

As a mother I love toys that help my children use their imagination to keep themselves occupied. I have been blessed with children with great big imaginations that like to build forts, play with boxes, blocks, ride bikes, and explore nature.

Even if you don't have children who like to do these things you can encourage them by providing lots of paper, crayons, markers, boxes, and other sorts of recyclable materials so that on the those days where they can't find anything else to do you can give them this box filled with all sorts of craft items and really let their minds grow.

With Maker Studio Gears Set you can take it one step further by helping them make their creations move. This might keep them busy for years once they start playing around with the pieces you saved for them on top of the Maker Studio Gears Set.

You can purchase The Maker Studio Gears here or on Amazon.

What Think Fun has to say about their product.
Designed by Engineers for Budding Engineers
Maker Studio™ inspires imagination and a love for engineering. In this set featuring gears, you’ll be able to build a racecar, a cable car, a 3-wheeler and a motorcycle. Mighty Machines

Look at all of the creations you can make from one box. Imagine all of the creation your little one will come up with.

This is the second set we have of Click a Brick a much bigger set mind you and the kids love it just as much as the first. Learning how to build the creations on the building plans and then their own creations is a great accomplishment and one as a parent I give a thumbs up to.

The bricks are easy to assemble into whatever your mind can think up.

You can purchase Click a Brick Mighty Machines here or on Amazon.
The Click-A-Brick Mighty Machines set is an educational building block set for children aged 5 and up. What makes this product unique is the way the blocks connect to each other. Click-A-Brick

There isn't often another kind of building brick comes along that both child and adult like. Click a brick is one of those kinds of bricks.

I found that these don't hurt my hands as much as other building bricks which makes playing with my children a little easier. Not that I don't love the old kind of building brick because I do. They are just easier to put together and take apart.

Love the bright colors as well as the versatility of the bricks being put into different creations.

You can purchase Click a Brick here or on Amazon.

Couture Gel Nail Polish Review + Giveaway

One thing about being a mom with four girls is that we do lots and lots of fingernail polish, and have used tons over the years. My oldest daughter was the first to try Gel Nail Polish from a Nail Salon. My second daughter had hers done about a month ago with her best friend ( her best friends grandma treated). They both loved it, so when the opportunity to try Couture Gel Nail Polish came along I jumped right in as I wanted to try out what everyone else has been raving about.

The kit is amazing and you get all of the below for $99.00. What a bargain. Believe me I have looked for other prices on other kits that are available out there. Now I have to mention that I have never done this and stay tuned for the video coming soon for the unboxing as well as the first ever time using the Couture Gel Nail Polish by yours truly.

This company is a Mom and Daughter run business, they were the first to manufacture gel nail polish without the use of harmful chemicals. They have 100 colors available and they are manufactured in California and have no history of animal testing. They also have nail stamping kits and glitter. What a great company. I can not wait to see what else they will come up with for their customers.

You can purchase your Couture Gel Nail Polish Kit here.
