How to Walk Away

As a member of SheSpeaks I am able to try out products sometimes before others like this book that came out on May 15th. How to Walk Away by Katherine Center.

It took me a few days to open it but even with our busy schedule I finished it in three reading sessions. While reading How to Walk Away I was on a roller coaster of emotions. This book has it all from the at the edge of your seat, to crying, and then cheering.

Every thing that happens to the character in this book can help those who are having a hard time to look ahead and know there is hope, there is a future. Don't take my word for it pick up a copy for yourself, make sure you are comfortable, and hunker down for a read that just might change your life.

You can find How to Walk Away by Kathering Center here.

This is a nice book that will take you through what essential oils can do, what they can be used for, and how to implement them into your life. I am still learning about essential oils as I go along and add a new one as I can find a use for it in our lives.

Some I have a problem with the scent bothering my allergies but some I have found I can use with no problems. This book will teach you about carrier oils and how to use them with your essential oils for massage, salves, candles, aromatherapy, etc. This is a great book to give as a gift with a few simple essential oils.

Essential Oils & Aromatherapy can be found on Amazon.

Bullying Prevention

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Bullying Prevention
written by
Dr. Wendy Craig, Dr. Debra Pepler, and Dr. Joanne Cummings

Bullying Prevention is a great resource for both younger and older parents of either the bully or those being bullied. I think this is a great book to get when your child is born so you can begin to ready them  and yourselves for what may lay ahead, or even stop them from becoming THE BULLY themselves.

Lots of ideas, thoughts, and scenarios that show what you could deal with and how to get around the system to get your child help. Personally I think kids have just gotten out of hand, but with how fast things change it is hard for everyone to keep up with the changes we are all faced with.

I find this a great resource that every library and school office should have available for parents.

Bullying Prevention can be found here. I also like that they have a fundraising option for schools or organizations that could benefit from this.

What Quick Find Books has to say about Bullying Prevention.

Written by three top experts in the field, this research-based book provides parents with key information about the causes of bullying and how to prevent it, at all age and grade levels. This book, while written for parents,  has also been used by many teachers and school administrators to better understand and  deal with  bullying, including cyber-bullying.
Topics covered include: Bullying: Myths, Facts and Solutions; Bullying in Preschool; Bullying in Elementary School; Adolescents and Bullying; Electronic or Cyber-bullying; Children Who Bully -- What to do at home; What Parents Can Do to Help a child Who Is Victimized; How Parents Can Work with the School; Bullying Prevention Through the Golden  Rule; and Resources for Parents.

Congratulations You're Pregnant

Angie Walker Y Fenyw

Even though this book is slotted towards first time parents, it is a great reference for any mother to bee. It has sections for information as well as the weeks broken down. So now you can know what your body will be going through and what to expect.

I love that this tells you what to avoid, not everyone knows about these things, and also tells you what to do more of. Eating the right foods at the right stages is so important to your child's health as well as your own.

I love the weekly breakdowns. This is a great gift idea for those who are expecting as well as those trying to conceive.

You can find Congratulations You're Pregnant on Smashwords

What Angie Walker Y Fenyw has to say about her book.

A new ebook on the facts of pregnancy up to giving birth for new mothers.

Congratulations, you’re pregnant! If this is your first pregnancy, you will be full of questions and your first stop should be your doctor or midwife, they are the professionals and will give you the most up to date information. This little book is intended as a guide about the facts of pregnancy and you and your baby's nutritional needs. Make educated choices about your health.

Never to old to color

I have done quite a few reviews for both Tali Carmi and for other Adult coloring books. I love to read Tali Carmi's books to my smaller children and grandchildren while my older children and myself can enjoy Tali Carmi's talent in a new way. Through Adult Coloring Books which are growing in  popularity. Matter of fact while shopping I noticed that a popular store has a whole section dedicated to Adult coloring books.

Coloring is something that can be done at pretty much any age, but us adults sometimes want something a little more intricate. This is where Adult Coloring books come in. I love that this one had different breeds of dogs inside. I called the page with the Saint Bernard while my daughters and husband picked other pages for themselves. What I love is that these are one sided and if more then one person would like to do the same page you can copy them either on your copy machine, or scanner then print.

Now back to some time with my girls, coloring life away for a little while.

You can find this Adult Coloring book on Amazon.

Let your imagination soar and color this Amazing Dog Coloring pages with the colors of your choice.

The Magical Zoo #1

MarksvilleandMe reviews
The Magical Zoo #1
written by
Dan Jackson

We have been reading books from Dan Jackson for quite a while now and each book is filled with rich illustrations, a good story line, and a little bit of learning fun thrown in. Our children and grandchildren  really enjoy his books.

As a mom I love that they enjoy them but also like the education part of the book as well. Without knowing it my children, grandchildren, and even myself are learning about animal facts together. I have always known that learning while having fun is the best way to learn because you seem to remember that kind of learning better than traditional ways.

In #1 of the series we start with Sally who is reading a book in the library and out pops a whole bunch of different animals followed by the zookeeper who needs her help finding and returning the animals to the zoo, Milkshake her kitty joins in on the search as well. Find out how they find and return each zoo animal in this series.

You can find The Magical Zoo #1 on Amazon.

This is Sally. She is twelve years old and loves to read. Sally lives in a small town called Durham in North Carolina, and she visits the library almost two times a week. People say Sally is addicted to reading.
When Sally goes to the library, she takes Milkshake, her cat. Milkshake likes to sit on the tall stool in the library and watch Sally while she is looking for a good book to read.
Sally believes that Milkshake understands her completely, even if he can't talk to her.
It was Monday morning, and Sally did not have to go to school since it was a holiday.  What she didn't know is that this day was going to be special.
Book #1 in the Series

As a mom I want my children to love reading, so finding books that they enjoy, and learn something from is big on my list. We have been reading books from Dan Jackson for a while now and he doesn't ever let us down with both engaging and educational books.

The Magical Zoo #2 is of course the second book in the series, takes place in a zoo, with cute characters, Sally, Milkshake her cat, a zookeeper, and of course an animal or two. They always have to figure out how to do something and there are some facts about the animals or zoo which is where the learning comes in.

Children remember better when it is given in a fun manner. In this installment, Sally, Milkshake, and the zookeeper have to figure out how to get Tibby the Tiger back where she belongs.

You can find this book and other books in the series on Amazon.

Codename: Zosha

MarksvilleandMe
reviews
CodeName Zosha
written by
Yehudit Kafri

Most of my readers know I like to read books about World War II when it pertains to Nazi Germany or the Holocaust. That time in history is just so full of information I could just read about it everyday, watch movies, hear stories, see pictures, I think you get the idea.

This book was more about Zosha's life and her story of fighting back, never giving up. The author did a great job of blending what she perceived to have happened and what actually happened from records, stories, and people who knew Zosha.

Very different then what I am used to reading but still hit the mark on what I like to read about and gave me a glimpse into a another life during this time in history. A sad time were tragedy happened along with gains in science medical practice, etc, all in the name of genocide.

We can all be thankful for things that happened during this time while mourning the deaths of so many innocent people who should have had a right to live on to be able to tell their own stories. People like Zosha stood up and tried to help others even if it cost her the very life she lived. A great book that any Heroine lover will enjoy.

I only wish to be as strong as this lady if the day ever comes for me to stand up for what I believe in.

You can find Codename Zosha on Amazon.

Zosha Poznanska is an unsung Jewish heroine of World War II. Born in Kalisz Poland, she immigrated to Eretz Israel as a pioneer and for a brief time belonged to the group that founded Kibbutz Mishmar Ha'emek. Afterwards, she joined the Palestine Communist Party (Palestiner Kumunistishe Partie in Yiddish, abbreviated PKP), and from 1930 until her death she lived in France and Belgium.

On the eve of the war she was recruited into the Soviet spy network known as the Red Orchestra, which operated in Western Europe. Zosha was part of the inner core of the network, a third of whose members were Jews. Apparently unaware of the Jews' participation in the Red Orchestra, Hitler declared, "The Bolsheviks surpass us in one area alone: espionage!" and he commanded his counterspies to eradicate this network at all costs.

This book tells the story of Zosha Poznanska through all the chapters of her short life: childhood, the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement in Poland, Eretz Israel and the PKP in the 1920s, Europe in the 1930s and the Red Orchestra. It tells of her loves, her relationships with family and friends, her daring activity in the Red Orchestra and her heroic struggle in a Gestapo prison. The State of Israel posthumously awarded Zosha a medal of honor for fighting the Nazis.

The book is written as a biographical novel and relies on exhaustive research; all fictional passages are derived from and based on extensive documentation.
The book was awarded the 2004 prize for top literary achievement, by the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers in Israel

Stolen Generation

MarksvilleandMe reviews
Stolen Generation
written by
Shari McGriff

Stolen Generation is a no nonsense writers view on past and present Stolen Generations. Very vivid and very real. Be prepared for a very short but very intense story from the past to the present bringing to life what has happened over and over again, generation after generation.

Man has still not learned that their decisions change the world in more ways then one. Life is life, if you take a life it is murder, no matter what the circumstances.

You can purchase Stolen Generation on Amazon.

A Short Story

A life taken; a life preserved. Who decides the outcome of a child born to poverty, slavery, or simply the wrong skin tone or ethnic descent? At our core beats a heart, bestowing the gift of life, but who has the right to determine how that life should be lived?
Come with writer, Shari McGriff, on a powerful journey from modern day, back in time, to turn-of-the century Australia. A small child is chased down a dust-filled street and ripped from his mother’s arms. “Dust-to-dust”, they say, “when we pass from one life to the next.”
Vignettes explored, take the reader on The Trail of Tears, to the farms of wealthy landowners and the gas chambers of Nazi Germany. Families, decimated by greed and lust for power, stare at one another through tear-soaked eyes and a veil of forgetfulness. These are generations robbed of everything: their heritage, past and future, their family ties, and even their names.
Surely, today things are different, more humane and civil. There is no longer a kill the Indian, save the child mentality, or is there? The poor, the uneducated, and the inconvenient are victimized, as in days past. We are all human. Are we perpetrating our own stolen generation?
Deeply moving and forcefully conveyed, this is a short story that will impact the way you look at love, life, and the need to embrace the human family. Free your mind from all earthly cares and spend a few precious minutes in the soul of a child, desperate to share the joys, and sorrows that are our existence.

The Lost Bible

The Lost Bible
written by
L. Rosenman

Looking for a religious, romance, adventure story? Then look no further then The Lost Bible by L. Rosenman. I am not a big Romance reader but I don't mind if there is enough adventure in it, and since this included history mixed with fiction it made it that much more enjoyable.

Even though I am a Christian myself I still enjoy lots of different genres of books. I have always been an avid reader and the only thing that has slowed me down over the years has been time with my family, which as always comes over reading.

You can purchase The Lost Bible on Amazon.

Book Description :
"What would you say if you suddenly received a mysterious phone call from someone telling you that there weren’t forty-eight of Gutenberg’s books, but forty-nine?”

Hannah, a green-eyed beauty, finds herself in mid-life with no husband, no work, and no clear direction. Following a promising ad, she joins an enthusiastic professor on a perilous search for a lost copy of the Gutenberg Bible, last seen in the 16th century. To succeed where others failed, they must decipher ancient encrypted texts, enter monasteries and torture cellars - and avoid dangerous criminals who will stop at nothing to lay their hands on this priceless antiquity. But then they are forced to face an even greater challenge...

This suspenseful romance reveals an ancient love that drowned in blood 500 years ago, yet has endured to this day.
